Over time, he worked his way up through different roles in the kitchen starting with prep for dinner service to a line cook to specialist chef. Finally, as his skill set, confidence and creative ability became apparent, he was named Executive Chef of Ben & Jack's Steak House. As we learn at TheCenterPS.org, "The story of The Center (also known as The LGBT Community Center of The Desert) is one of success. This vibrant organization is undergoing a dramatic expansion to better serve our seniors, to embrace the diversity of our Valley, to build camaraderie, to provide wellness and social services – and to enrich the lives of the LGBT community. The magnitude of commitment to The Center’s mission in this community is striking. Through the contributions of our members, volunteers, donors, business partners, board and staff, we are addressing urgent needs of hunger, depression, isolation and building a community center that brings people together for health, for wellness, for socializing, for FUN and for a broad array of shared interests."
On May 21st, 2015, at the beautiful home of Palm Springs City Council Candidate Geoff Kors and his husband, Palm Springs Unified School Board Member James Williamson, The Center's Executive Director Mike Thomspon addressed existing and future members of The Center's Ocotillo Club (major donors) about how far the organization has come, and where it's headed. They say, "Be a part of this success story as it unfolds. Join us...You are welcome here."

No matter how severe the adversity you’re dealt with, how you view it makes all the difference. Be inspired and hear how Dr Terry and his family turned tragedy into growth & enlightenment and you can too!
Dr. Terry A. Gordon completed his medical school training at what is now known as the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, a rotating internship at Doctors Hospital, Internal Medicine training at Akron General Medical Center, he then completed his Invasive Cardiology Fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. As a physician who on a daily basis has dealt with life and death, Terry understands that life is precious & can change in an instant.
He & his family experienced first-hand such a dramatic shift when his son Tyler was in an automobile accident, sustaining a severe spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed. Leading his family through the experience, Terry’s journey has resulted in a spiritual awakening to a clearer understanding of life and the truths it has to offer. He’s learned that when adversity comes our way, how we respond to that difficulty that determines who we become. Rather than lamenting so-called adversities, we can choose to be grateful for them, embrace them & accept them as gifts from the Divine.

He enjoys helping companies succeed by teaching them how to discover and narrate their unique value proposition.
Today, he’s building upon this work and his love of storytelling by partnering with the international consulting firm, Anecdote, and incorporating their outstanding 6 month programs, Storytelling for Leaders and Storytelling for Sales, into his consulting practice. These programs help leaders in large and small organizations develop their story skills so they can effectively inspire and engage their troops to take action.
