Chef Justin Beckett, of the popular Beckett's Table in Phoenix, is known for his wonderfully delicious and beautiful creations. Food is much more to him than something on a menu, however. His early experiences with food had a strong influence on his career and the energy emanating from his venue.
We'll talk about some of the values surrounding family, food, and community that he weaves through his work in his restaurant and with the people he meets.
In addition to his current restaurant, Justin Beckett's career includes stints at Canal, Cafe Zuzu, Trader Vic's, and Roy's Desert Ridge. He was recently nominated for Food and Wine Magazine's "People's Best New Chef -- Southwest" Award.
Chef Beckett also makes time for giving back, and was recently on both the TEDx Phoenix and Ignite Food speaker panels.
THIS PROGRAM WILL BE BROADCAST AT 11 AM EASTERN TIME. IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND LIVE, THE RECORDING WILL BE AVAILABLE AS A PODCAST AT THE SAME LINK AFTER THE SHOW.
Now here's a twist! The women of Power Up for PCOS have asked for an opportunity to turn the tables and ask ME the questions this time around. I'm going to turn the radio show over for a segment and let them ask away.
I'm Monika Woolsey, a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist who founded the inCYST Institute for Hormone Health. Since I do my best to make this a research foundation devoted to women with PCOS, it made sense that the women inCYST advocates for know just who it is behind the blogs and webinars.
I very much look forward to sharing with all of you! I hope it makes inCYST a little more personal and three-dimensional, and encourages/inspires you to become involved in the many great things in store over at Power Up for PCOS.
An interview with Lisa Reinhardt about how Wei of Chocolate came to be, the importance of going organic, and chocolate's many health benefits. There will also be plenty of talk about why chocolate is so delicious!
Lisa Reinhardt is the CEO and chocolatier of Wei of Chocolate, a company that makes organic, fair trade, and vegan dark chocolates. Although she comes from a small town in America, Lisa's journey to chocolate came through her travels to Paris and Asia. Along the way, she experienced deeply the benefits and joys of meditation, living in a cave, spending months in retreat and studying and practicing the wisdom traditions of Nepal, India and Tibet for 11 years. When she returned, she was looking for a way to bring the East to the West, and when she experienced the herb- and spice-infused chocolate that Lotus Wei sister Katie Hess created for tea cerimonies and meditation circles, Wei of Choclate was born in 2007.
Monika Woolsey wears many hats. As Founder and president of After The Diet (tm) she helps people overcome eating issues to live healther lives.
As founder of Incyst she brings the best information and support for somen suffering with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS among its many other symptoms has a very high rate of anxiety and depression. Learn how to identify, diagnosis and treat PCOS in your teen
Does this sound familiar?
Hello, my name is Amber. I am 30 years old and I am a stay at home mom of two. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with P.C.O.S. and diabetes all in the same week! My Dr. had no real answers for me as to what P.C.O.S. i...s or how MUCH it affects you! She said that the medication I am taking for diabetes would HELP with my P.C.O.S. In what way I am not sure! She also said exercise will help BUT and I quote; “This is an uphill battle you will NOT win!”
I was devastated, and rightfully so. I was at a point in my life, where I was two years from thirty and the dream to be thin and healthy had just flown out the window. I felt this was it; I should just quit trying and find a way to be happy with myself. Now convincing me of this was not entirely easy, but let’s face it my Dr. said there was no hope, so there was no hope I had finally accepted that this was my life so I should just deal with it!
Amber has decided it's time to do something about her PCOS and she's going to share her journey with you. Tune in as she introduces all of us to her world. Then follow her on our blog after that, as she updates us with the ins and outs and ups and downs of PCOS management.
I'm looking forward to learning tons from Amber and hope you join us!

You've become inspired with what your PCOS has taught you about nutrition and you're thinking about turning it into a career...
...it's not uncommon!
Many dietitians entered the field because of a personal experience with nutrition and health.
inCYST's first intern, Sarah Jones, will talk about what brought her into the field, what it takes to earn a degree in nutrition, what she likes, as well as what surprises her about her chosen career.
Sarah Jones is a northern California native who grew up in a small town in Sonoma Country nestled in the heart of wine country. Upon graduating from high school, she worked full-time for various law offices and attended college in the evenings taking general education courses. In 2000, she moved to southern California and was employed as an office manager for an accident reconstruction-engineering firm. At age 27, she decided to quit working entirely and return to college as a full-time student, though she had not yet determined what major she would pursue. She initially began her journey toward returning to college in southern California, but after one semester moved to Phoenix, Arizona to live with her future husband and attend Phoenix College and later Arizona State University. After two semesters back in college, she discovered the field of Dietetics. Healthy eating had been a way of life for her for many years and after taking one nutrition class, she was hooked. Her path to studying nutrition began with her own journey of healing with food, and she now incorporates her knowledge of nutrition with Yoga. In 2009, Sarah obtained her 200-hour Yoga instructor certification through At One Yoga in Scottsdale, Arizona, and currently is a substitute instructor at Metta Community Yoga in Phoenix. She believes that the mind and body connection is essential for good eating and healthy living habits. Sarah plans to graduate in December 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics.

Have you ever considered that living in an environmentally unhealthy home can affect your own personal health?
Did you know that your indoor air is often far more polluted than the outdoor air you breathe?
Do you know why?

Many of these things have probably been right under your nose all along – literally! We will then give you tools and tricks for improving your indoor air/environmental quality to take with you and apply to your own situation immediately.
Stacey Champion has worked as an indoor air/environmental quality expert for nearly 10 years and has been doing the "green" thing for most of her life.
She is well known in her industry for her passionate enthusiasm for healthy homes and buildings, a published writer and national speaker.
Though she still takes referral and expert projects for Champion Indoors, the new focus is to assist other companies in "walking their talk," as many PR and marketing firms who've taken on the green industry only know the buzz words and not the whole burrito. Stacey also likes burritos.
Champion PR + Consulting is a woman-owned firm and can aid and abet both locally and nationally.
When she is not consumed by her passions, Stacey can be found frolicking with her children Zoe & Zane, welding functional art or writing.

We'll be chatting with Tabbitha Johnson, Umpqua's Retail Office Manager and Cow Creek Band member, about her company's story, why they chose healthy foods as a business endeavor, and what they aspire to teach others with their business venture.
Is it an eating disorder? Is it PCOS? Is it both? How to know? How in the world to get started on the path to better balance?
Janelle Fuchs, RD, LD, of the Emily Program, will be with us to share exactly how she does that in her work.
The Emily Program is a respected eating disorder program that has sent 3 of their dietitians through the inCYST training. Angie Staples and Joan Giampaoli work at the original Emily Program center in metropolitan Minneapolis, and Janelle recently moved to Seattle to help open the new Emily Program center out West.
Janelle received her Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and completed her dietetic internship at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Janelle has worked in the eating disorders field for over five years, and recently moved to Seattle, WA for the opportunity to expand the Emily Program’s reach at our first out-of-state office. Janelle is passionate about helping her clients of all ages and sizes restore balance in their intricate relationships between health, food, and body image. She uses a non-diet, educational approach and supports her clients' innate abilities to eat intuitively. Janelle is also skilled in helping clients manage diet-related conditions such as PCOS and food allergies/sensitivities.
