    The Ecumenical Movement and Chrislam

    in Education

The Ecumenical Movement:  is a movement for the unification of all the Protestant churches of the world, and ultimately, all Christians.

Rick Warren’s Ecumenism and “Chrislam”:   In an article in the 2009 Orange County Register, Rick Warren is in full fellowship speaking to 8,000 Muslims at the Islamic Society of North America’s (INSA) annual convention in Washington D.C.  Reports are that Warren did not share the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Warren states:  "I am not interested in interfaith dialogue, I am interested in interfaith projects,"  He says "Talk is very cheap."

This quote below is from a Muslim “ecumenical” web site.  The word Islam means “Submission.”  They substitute the word “God” in place of Allah.

The time has come to purify and consolidate all the messages delivered by God’s prophets into one message, and to proclaim that henceforth, there is only one religion acceptable to God, [Allah] “Submission”  [Islam] (3:19, 85). “Submission” [Islam] is the religion whereby we recognize God’s [Allah’s] absolute authority, and reach an unshakeable conviction that God [Allah] ALONE possesses all power; no other entity possesses any power that is independent of Him [Allah]. The natural result of such a realization is to devote our lives and our worship absolutely to God [Allah] ALONE. This is the First Commandment in all the scriptures, including the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Final Testament. [Quran]

  • SPECIAL REPORT: Hip Hop and Race - A NY Hip Hop Report Talk Show Town Hall

    in Music

Hip hop music and culture were born due to an incredibly unique real-world atmosphere, and since its inception, has always documented real life issues, often serving as a raw, unfiltered look at urban America through the eyes of those with a perspective like few others. Once dubbed the "CNN of the streets," hip hop has suffered something of an imposed identity crisis in recent years, being forced into a formulaic box by profit-seeking media conglomerates, seemingly more eager to produce cookie cutter music and prop up a certain sub-genre of rap superstar, at the expense of the huge range that exists in the overall music and culture.

As always, New York plays a huge part of this issue, but while NYC is still the Mecca, the issues facing hip hop that deal with race, have become a national -- even international -- issue worth discussing on its own. Add to this, the current turbulent relations between many Americans and the institutions supposedly designed "to serve and protect" them, based largely on the unequal treatment served to certain segments of the population.

In this special episode of The NY Hip Hop Report, we'll discuss both of these intriguing landscapes, both individually and how they coincide. Well discuss instances of real and perceived "cultural misappropriation" in the hip hop music business, how the industry muscled out pro-Black and "conscious" hip hop music over the years, as well as how current hip hop artists and organizations are at the forefront of the new civil rights movement, yet, rarely receive recognition or assistance, even from hip hop's most powerful figures.

If there is any episode that we need your input, it's this one. We'll be taking calls all night from listeners and a couple of special call-in guests. Join us, and join the conversation!

Social media explodes in joy at cop killings

    in Politics Conservative

Brace yourselves if you have a weak stomach. The following tweets gleaned from responses to the execution of two police officers in New York City yesterday are about as raw and sickening as it gets. They were compiled - many of them - by LilMissRightie from #BlueLivesMatter - a hashtag hijacked by protestors earlier.

I will simply let the tweets speak for themselves. Via Twitchy:

  • UNDERSTANDING THE ARABIC QURAN WITH SIDDEEQ JIHAD

    in Islam

Imam W. Deen Mohammed’s Endorsing Comments Regarding:

The Language of Revelation: Classical Arabic Language Instruction and Exercises with Qur’aan CommentaryFor Beginners & Non-Beginners     By Siddeeq Jihad

I want to bring to our attention an achievement, a publication that has been produced mainly for our community but is for anybody who wants some help from the material that has been put into this publication.  The book is called The Language of Revelation. (Lughatut-tan-zeel) It is by a brother that I have known to be dedicated and devoted to the study of Qur’aanic Arabic and the teaching of that subject to our students and to grown-ups as well. And that is brother Siddeeq Jihad. I think that most of us know him.

Brother Siddeeq Jihad would you please stand and face the audience...       I would highly recommend this book for you all, who are studying (grown-ups) but also for our youngsters who are studying in separate organized Qur’aanic Studies classes and who are also studying in our school system. Clara Muhammad School System like the one in Atl., Wash. D.C., Chi. & many other places.  I highly recommend this book, The Language of Revelation.  Qur’aanic Arabic with lessons and studies to improve your ability to read the Qur’aan and get more understanding and to qualify yourself, In-shaa Allah to be a teacher one day. Because out of you, from you who are interested in Qur’aanic Arabic, we’re going to get our next generation of teachers, Imams and leaders. So Allah be with you all and bless you to benefit from these wonderful projects and publications that our community is producing. This is one, we have others that I’ve seen and I’m grateful to Allah for students and scholars like our brother, Siddeeq Jihad. Congratulations, my brother!  7-6-08 www.siddeeqjihad.com siddeeq@msn.com
