Income inequality is linked to over 800K deaths yearly in US.

    in Politics

"Here in the United States, our high level of income inequality corresponds with 883,914 unnecessary deaths each year." According to the CDC tobacco, including second hand smoke, causes approximately 480,000 deaths every year and in 2010 traffic accidents killed 33,687 people and 31,672 others died of gunshot wounds." High inequality results in more U.S. deaths than Tobacco, Car Crashes and Guns combined....truthdig.com

Income Inequality 50 years after President Johnson

    in Politics

Democrats are also carefully choosing their rhetoric. Some have invoked the popular Pope Francis, who recently warned that income inequality will lead to “an economy of exclusion.” Some are citing economist Mark Zandi, former adviser to Sen. John McCain (R) of Arizona, who defends benefits for the long-term unemployed as a boost to economic growth.2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s comment about the 47 percent of Americans who are “dependent on government” and “unwilling to take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” It reinforced his plutocrat image in the 2012 campaign, which Obama went on to win handily even in a bad economy. #61 - Putin Marches On While Obama Vacations & Blathers On Income Inequality

    in Politics Conservative

Does anyone really think Putin cares about sanctions from the Europeans or the empty threats from Obama? Obama wants the US to be like Russia where only the chosen few and “intelligentsia” to be able to do well economically. The new book by this Marxist “economist” that says that we should all be equal in income is just what Obama will promote. 80% tax and incomes over $500,000 and then we eliminate it. These European pinheads and their ilk here at Harvard and Yale have carped for years about the “really valuable” people not being “fairly paid”. In other words, the marketplace can’t determine how they get remunerated because the average person is too stupid to realize how really smart they are and how important whatever project they are doing is. They are every bit as greedy as anyone else…they just keep trying to convince you they’re not.

Politics Done Right - Income Inequality, Culture Wars, & GOP

    in Politics Progressive

    This week’s show

Income inequality and culture wars are a GOP necessity

Sadly the hits keep coming. Newt Gingrich back in 2011 suggested that poor kids in schools work as janitors at the schools for income. Last Saturday Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) said that poor kids should sweep cafeteria floors to appreciate that there is no free lunch.

These guys have a fundamental misunderstanding of what ails America. They simply do not understand that it is an ideology that was effected by disingenuous think tanks that promote an ideology and actions detailed in the Powell Memo. This in effect has decimated the working middle class. It was designed.

Income Inequality Is Hurting The Economy, 3 Dozen Economists Say

    in Politics Progressive

Main topic: Discussion on Today's Huffingtonpost's Artical by CHRISTOPHER S. RUGABER  Income Inequality Is Hurting The Economy, 3 Dozen Economists Say.

The growing gap between the richest Americans and everyone else isn't bad just for individuals.

    It's hurting the U.S. economy.

The growing gap between the richest Americans and everyone else isn't bad just for individuals.

    It's hurting the U.S. economy.

"What you want is a broader spending base," said Scott Brown, chief economist at Raymond James, a financial advisory firm. "You want more people spending money."

"The broader the improvement, the more likely it will be sustained," said Michael Niemira,

Income inequality has steadily worsened in recent decades, according to government data and academic studies. The most recent census figures show that the average income for the wealthiest 5 percent of U.S. households, adjusted for inflation, has surged 17 percent in the past 20 years. By contrast, average income for the middle 20 percent of households has risen less than 5 percent.

Economists appear to be increasingly concerned about the effects of inequality on growth. In a speech this month, President Barack Obama declared inequality the "defining challenge of our time."

Now, he says, "there's not much denial of that ... and you're starting to see some research saying, yes, it does slow the economy."

Income inequality, the maximum wage, and Rodeo Clowns

    in Politics Progressive

On the August 15th 2013 episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
It was bound to happen since I do not always agree with my fellow liberals. On this show I am going to touch on several subjects where I will be critical of some liberals.
The MSNBC show All In With Chris they are requesting stories about income inequality and are labelling the campaign "#maximumwage". It sounds like they are trying to solve the problems of the income inequality that happen in our country with setting a limit on how much someone can earn. I will go over some examples of what maximum wage supporters propose and why they absolutely will not work to solve income inequality.
On last week's show I really was unable to get into education as much as I should have. So I will be going over some of the problems that Orleans Parish is having with delivering services to children with developmental disabilities.
Finally, everyone is talking about the Obama clown. I will explain from the liberal point of view why everyone is completely overreacting about this.
Those topics, Words of Redneck Wisdom, Tweet of the Week, Headlines and more, tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.  And remember, please help the show expand and contribute to the Kickstarter.
If you want to discuss the show afterwards, you can always comment on LiberalDan.com

Dr. Yaron Brook--Income Inequality Is Good

    in Finance

Dr. Yaron Brook of the Ayn Rand Institute believes that income equality is good for society. People are different and not everyone is puts forth the same effort or generates the same productivity. He believes that the left's rallying cry is false and just another effort to confiscate wealth from those who produce it. It's much like their efforts to raise the minimum wage. They know that it will benefit no one, but it makes for good headlines and is proof of their lofty intentions.
