Martin grew up behind the Iron Curtain, in Czechoslovakia. After a short career as a Clinical Hypnotherapist Martin moved to the computer industry and worked as a trainer and as a sales professional. In later years he worked as a manager, a management consultant and information technology consultant. Martin is happily married to the mother of his two adult daughters. Soon after he received a dozen of mercury amalgam fillings as part of his introduction to modern western medicine, Martin's health started a sharp decline. Martin's documented mercury poisoning was behind his multitude of problems that neither the medical professionals nor the alternative practitioners he worked with identified as a possible source of his problems. In his quest for health, Martin explored dozens of mainstream and alternative modalities with only temporary success. Only after he decided to apply the strategic thinking skills he learned in his management consulting practice to his medical problems he was able to turn the tide and begin reversing his health problems.
In the process of discovery he has learned most of what a naturopathic doctor would learn at school - anatomy and physiology, hormonal function, nutrition and detoxification, exercise and emotional therapies. Martin continues his study to this day in order to improve his ability to advise the customers of Life Enthusiast in his capacity as personal coach and Metabolic Typing Advisor.
Martin is the CEO of Life Enthusiast, an on-line source of natural solutions for your health and wellness.

Something is seriously wrong with the healthcare industry. The healthcare industry as a whole in the United States is corrupt, dysfunctional, ineffective, and inefficient. And regardless of “party affiliation”, everyone appears to share this opinion. The only real disagreement (and a heated disagreement at that) is what should be done about it, and whether what has been done to date has a chance of working as promised over time. Drugs are not the answer to your improved health. The food you eat can affect your health and your risk for certain diseases. To eat healthier food, you may need to change some of your daily habits. You also may need to change some things in your environment. Your environment includes everything around you, like your home or the place you work. Believe us when we say: Choice Matters. Tune in Wednesday the 27th at 7:PM for The Rest Of The Story!

Most people acknowledge that mental health issues are not handled as seriously as other health issues. There are misunderstandings, victim blaming, and the inaccurate belief that someone living with mental illness can simply 'cheer up' or get through it. What most people don't know is the diverse ways in which social workers exist in the world of mental health. There is not only a myriad of ways that social workers practice, but also a requirement for diversity and cultural competence and an ever-present need for diversity among providers. Join us as we discuss these issues and their impact on the trans* community.

In order to maintain privacy and confidentiality, there are rules of access to Electronic Health Records (EHR) that can sometimes present barriers to delivering the best care.
Tracy Zervakis and her daughter recently had quite an adventure trying to get the right medicine at the right time, and ran into several roadblocks imposed by the access rules around EHR at her hospital.
While it sounds like a good idea to restrict access to those with a "need to know," in practice it sometimes get in the way. Perhaps we need to re-think those rules, not only for the events in a peaceful day at the office, but also in an emergency.
Joyce and Mike speak with Tracy about her adventure and about ideas for improving the flow of medical information to patients, to emergency personnel, and to all those who really do "need to know" in order to deliver the right care at the right time.
