    Hear I Am

    in Entertainment

Hammer 96.7---join us tomorrow, 9 am pacific 12 pm eastern; call 646-595-3032 to talk to best-selling author, Jennifer Beilis. She will be talking to the Hammer about her book, "Hear I Am"

I have my Associate’s degree in Social Sciences from Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey, my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey and my Master’s degree in Education and Deafness Rehabilitation, SCPI (Sign Language Profi ciency Interview) from New York University in New York.

“She has weathered more storms than most people have that I have ever known. Yet, she still perseveres and conquers her fears, never letting an ounce of weakness tell her that she cannot do something... Because she knows that she can. Most of the struggles that I have seen, suffering alongside with her frequently as she has fallen down only to pick herself up. “Hear” I am!! Is like poetry to the poet as medicine is to the patient. Every reader will relate to something somewhere in the book. Each time it is read, it will even relate to the same person differently as they progress through various challenges in their life. I wish Jen many years of continued success in her relationships, employment, overcoming obstacles with her health and wellness, financial security, and in her continuation to showing others that there is always hope.”

  • Part 14: Close-Up Talk Radio welcomes back Maureen Santora

    in Education

Long Island City, NY – Christopher Santora had only been a firefighter with Engine 54, Ladder 4 for two months when he died tragically on September 11th.

“It devastated us, but my husband and I both understood we couldn’t change what happened,” recalls his mother Maureen Santora. “We wanted to do something that would benefit the future generations and help them remember 9/11.”

In his memory, Maureen and Al Santora established the Christopher Santora Educational Scholarship Fund, which awards $50,000 in scholarships each year to New York City’s elementary, middle school and high school students. Scholarships awarded based on an essay competition. The essays are evaluated based on the student’s response to the topic, grammar and spelling, originality and their ability to relate the topic to their personal experience.

“It’s always a topic that’s related to current events because Christopher loved history,” says Maureen. “It’s something we hope the kids give some thought to. We’re looking for essays that reveal the integrity of the student’s character.”

LIVING LINKIE STYLE with Linkie Marais on GrilliantIdeasRadio.com

    in Food

Welcome to the "Living Linkie Style" Radio Show with Linkie Marais

    It's all about Outdoor Entertaining!

    Linkie's Special Guest: Michelle Ragussis!

Linkie Marais exudes a passion for life and it is evident in her cakes, food, art and her ability to create beautiful things. Her resume includes creating specialty cakes and desserts for such noted individuals as Barack Obama, John McCain, Frankie Vali and Patrick Kennedy. She has cooked alongside Guy Fieri, Giada de Laurentis and of course, her fellow Food Network Stars.

Her story has interesting roots – an immigrant from South Africa, she has been passionate about food as far back as she can remember. Her first food memory is of helping her Mom make a “Welcome Home Cake” when her Dad was returning from the war. Growing up in South Africa brings to mind some great memories – Covering ripening fruit on trees with plastic bags to keep monkeys from stealing it; family and friends gathering at braais (cookouts) where whole sheep were BBQ’d on a spit while singing songs around the campfire; and living where it is OK to “test drive” an ostrich. South Africa’s wide open spaces and beauty made it easy for her to fall in love with the outdoors.

Join Linkie and her guests as they explore the Great Outdoors of Entertaining!

    CHRISTMAS MEMORIES I

    in Entertainment

    ABOUT THIS SHOW:

This is the sixth year of my annual two-night family Christmas show, filled with wonderful old rare radio shows, stories, songs, and culminating in the second night (tomorrow) with the old and rare reading by author Truman Capote of his own poignant "A Christmas Memory."

You'll hear music by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and others singing holiday classics, as well as old radio performances of holiday classics, and some you've never heard. The stories vary from year-to-year, but always great nostalgic holiday fare.

Gather your family around, have a cup of hot cocoa, eggnog, or just a cup of good cheer, and enjoy.

Tomorrow night's show will be deleted afterward and only available for listening live each year, when I switch things up and put together a warm and hopefully memorable holiday program for you.

Merry Christmas, and happiest of holidays to everyone. I wish you each a new year of good health, and abundant peace.

Thank you to all of my listeners from the bottom of my heart.
