Kept On Campus- Ides Of March

    in Spirituality

    Next on: Kept on Campus

Brought to you by "Kingdom United Ministries Network"

Kept on Campus is a ministry broadcast that serves as a monthly forum for people to tune in and discuss what's going on in our campuses, both physically and spiritually

The goal of Kept on Campus is to help not only High School and College students keep the faith,
but to promote peace, positivity, and love on our campuses, in our community and our world through Jesus Christ!

    Ides Of March

The 15th of March was characterized in ancient Rome as the Ides Of March, a day that fell on the middle of the month. Traditionally many celebrations and festivities were had during this time, most hedonistic and carnal in nature. Most celebrations culminated in a sacrifice to the roman pantheon (the Roman gods) who were just as fallible and corrupt in nature. So in dishonor of this ancient tradition, we are going to discuss what true and righteous sacrifice is to a true and infallible God.

Holly Stephey talks to Jim Peterik about New Book "Through the Eye of the Tiger"

    in Entertainment

As the founding member of Survivor and co-writer of one of the most inspirational songs in rock history, Jim Peterik easily fits into the category of ‘rock star.’ But a closer look at Peterik’s life and career reveal that he is anything but your typical rock star. Forgoing a life of meaningless sex and drugs, Peterik married his high school sweetheart and focused on the music, becoming one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation.

Here, for the first time, Peterik shares the stories behind his iconic songs?from touring with Led Zeppelin and Janis Joplin on the heels of the Ides of March number one classic ‘Vehicle’ to his Grammy-winning, triple platinum ‘Eye of the Tiger’ with Survivor and beyond. He explores the often torturous power struggles within the band contrasted by the giddy highs that accompany a trail of worldwide hits. Peterik has also co-written songs with some of the most famous bands and artists in rock-and-roll, including 38 Special (Rockin’ Into the Night, Caught Up In You, Hold On Loosely), Sammy Hagar (Heavy Metal), Brian Wilson, The Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, the platinum comeback of The Beach Boys (That’s Why God Made the Radio), and many more.

Through the Eye of the Tiger is more than just a memoir of a songwriting legend; it’s a classic rock-and-roll story, told through the eyes of someone who has lived through it all- and through the Eye Of The Tiger.

The question quite simply is this; what impact will this new knowledge resource have on existing industry publications including bloggers?  Joining me today to talk about this new venture is Mitch Mac Donald, who is the Group Editorial Director from DC Velocity.

Interview with Jazzlyn Strickland – Ides: Good Music

    in Music

Jazzlyn Raul Strickland, a.k.a. Ides, is one of 7 children born to Cortez and Dara Strickland.  She is the mother of two gorgeous sons – Christopher, age 9 years and Ethan, age 6 years.  Jazzlyn grew up singing in church, which is where I met her.  I was assistant choir director at the time.  Her father is an ordained minister and her mother is a talented Christian writer.  Jazz started writing poetry and her own songs at about 9 or 10.  From 2009 to 2010, she was a member Kansas City rock band, " Bad Wine".  Recently, Jazz has had the opportunity to collaborate with Royce Diamond on his newly released album, Mirrors and Smoke.  She has also worked with Monday 7E on his album titled "The Saga Continues", which also features artists Tech N9ne and Snug Brimm.
Jazz is currently working on writing her own music.  She enjoys the art of music, as it is such a peaceful way for self-expression.  Her greatest desire is to sell her music and gain a huge following.  Jazz understands that it is a blessing to have even a small amount of talent and hopes to one day to share her talent with the world.
