"Eloquence resides as much in the tone of voice, in the eyes, and in the expression of the face, as in the choice of words." ~ Francois La Rouchefoucauld
Tone of voice is not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it. This encompasses not only the words you choose, but their order, rhythm and pace. Words are often very imprecise vehicles of communication, requiring us to be as highly reliant on how a person sounds and expresses themselves when communicating. Indeed, your voice and accompanying expressions are a very powerful tool for communicating when used properly and a friendly tone of voice can make your seem more approachable. Maya Angelou once said, "People don’t always remember what you say or even what you do, but they always remember how you made them feel.” Tone is influenced by emotion and is reflected through volume, pitch and rate.
