"You two are always arguing: you should get married!" How often have you heard that? Married couples who argue all the time are so common that people seem to think marriage and arguing naturally go together. But although married couples tend to argue a lot, it's not the ideal way of communicating. It's simply a sign of two people who have stopped making an effort to be courteous and considerate when speaking to each other. Perhaps the underlying thought is, "You promised to stay with me forever for better or worse, so I don't have to be nice anymore in order to keep you!" During the courtship most people make an effort to be more polite than usual but once they are comfortable, people revert back to what is familiar, learned behavior. Excessive arguing may have been common between you and your siblings, but it is an unpleasant way to communicate with a spouse. How can you unlearn old habits of bickering and relearn new habits of pleasant conversation, even when you're disagreeing? Today our relationship experts share tips on how to talk nicely to the one you love
