The Homestead Honey Hour! Thursdays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ When we harvest an animal…be it from the wild or something we have raised. We give THANKS…Thanks to the creator and thanks to the animal for providing us with nourishment.  WHY? Because for too long we have been removed from the process of WHERE our nourishment comes from. Too many people grab meat from the counter and don’t think twice, that it used to be an animal…living and breathing, breeding, feeding it’s young. They just look at the price tag, pop it in their cart and move on. But when we Pray over an animal and thank it for its life and thank God for allowing us to have it.  WE are called barbarians.  So how does killing an animal for food lead to my reverence and respect for life? Because When I raise it, feed it, love it, kill it and cook it…I have completed MY part in the circle of life! When you hear the words…the circle (or cycle) of life…what does it mean to you? The women of ‘The Homestead Honey Hour’ have many things in common. What initially drew them together was they each had a YouTube channel, where they discussed homesteading, preparedness, and self-sufficiency.  They have partnered on Prepper Broadcasting Network because they see an opportunity to share their skills and abilities with many, like themselves, who are preparing for whatever the future brings.  Tags: Homestead Honey Hour, Canning, Self Reliant, Prepare, Youtube, Prepper

As they say, all good things must come to an end. This Thursday will mark the last Homestead Honey Hour . After three years running, the honeys feel they’ve delved into, and talked about everything they can to help you and your families get more prepared and move forward towards self-reliance.

We three ladies have sure enjoyed our time on the air, sharing and chatting with our listeners! What a wild and wonderful ride we’ve had! We appreciate all those who tuned in live, joined us in the chat room, and downloaded our shows later on. And we’d like to thank Glen, our producer, who has always been ever patient, ever supportive, helped us promote the show, grow as hosts, and aided us in building our YouTube channels and other endeavors in the process.

So join Katzcradul, Noreen, and Renée in saying goodbye, reminiscing, and talking about what the future holds for all of us going forward. And as a special treat, we will be joined by former Homestead Honey Bev, (or TheMrsVolfie as she is known on youtube), so despite this being the last show, it’s sure to have some joyful, funny moments!

And remember, anytime you need a Homestead Honey Hour fix, all the shows will be available in the archives at Prepperbroadcasting.

The Homestead Honey Hour! Thursdays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ What that expiration date on your groceries REALLY means! Many of us have food storage.  As people living a prepared lifestyle we take it upon ourselves to make sure we have what we need for any situation.  Food storage is the first thing many “preppers” try and achieve first.  We learn about a lot of things along the way but no matter how seasoned you may become when it comes to this facet of your preparedness there is always the dreaded “expiration date” question looming over our heads! Join Noreen on The Homestead Honey Hour Thursday for this week when she will try to de-mystify what that expiration date on your groceries REALLY means, where it came from, how it started and how we can be sure that eating a product beyond that number will be safe for our family! The Homestead Honey Hour! Thursdays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ Modern farming relies heavily on fossil fuels, genetically modified seeds (GMO’s), soil-depleting farming techniques, and crowded animal-husbandry practices in order to produce cheap, plentiful food.  This cheap, factory-farm food is the bland, nutrient-vacant fare filling our grocery store shelves.   It is also what many claim is making us sick and obese.   Is this what and how we really want to feed ourselves and our families?  Is it prudent to be so dependent on others for our food with virtually no control over its production? Thursdays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ On the next Homestead Honey Hour show we’re going to be tackling this very important subject.  If you are thinking about homeschooling and don’t know where to start, you won’t want to miss this show. If you already are a seasoned, homeschooling veteran, please tune in and participate in the chat room to help the many “newbies” like myself. I will be picking the brains of a panel of “experts”: Parents who have homeschooled and/or are currently homeschooling their children. These folks have generously agreed to share what they’ve learned along the way in tactics, resources, experiences, and tips with the rest of us. I’ll be learning right along with you as my husband and I will be throwing our hats into the homeschooling ring next year with our daughters, presently ages 8 and 10. The Homestead Honey Hour! Thursdays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ We are hardly preparing for our Thanksgiving feast, yet we can hear the jingle bells, the soft tones of holiday music and the blatant advertising reminding us of how many days there are until Christmas! This week on the Homestead Honey Hour Noreen will be your host and the topic will be Handmade Holiday!  Now, more than ever, is a time to reach inside ourselves.  Put our talents to work and give from the heart.  They say it’s the thought that counts and I believe that to be true.  Giving something that you make with your own hands, whether it is a tray of someone’s favorite fudge, a pair of hand knitted socks, scarf or a handmade journal, is the best gift of all.  When I craft a gift I am thinking about the recipient and putting that energy into that gift.  How could someone not like something you have made especially for them?  I also want to talk about changing the way we shop for the holidays. We need to get away from the big box stores and get into the local, mom and pop stores and small businesses that make this country great.  We need to take the dollars out of the corporations and put it back into the hands of the hard working Americans who have so much to offer this holiday season. Thursdays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ Balancing all that weight on your shoulders    So, how DOES one manage it all?   Where does that goal of getting back to the land and SIMPLIFYING one's life come into play on the modern homestead when you, the homesteader, have so many other obligations?    How do you live the rural "good life" without losing your sanity in the process?  Let's talk about not just having it all, but MANAGING it all.    Join me, Renée, as I discuss the reality of the situation versus the romanticized myths of a rural lifestyle and give you some advice in finding your own bliss on your farmstead.    And why, despite the juggling act and hard work, homesteading IS the ideal life for the prepper and anyone else who desires more choices, more freedom, and more fulfillment in their life.  We'll discuss how to share the work load, how to keep that less-than-homesteading-enthusiastic spouse happy, involving the children in a positive, productive way, living by the seasons, options to generate some homestead income in the process, recognizing your limits, how to get away for a vacation, and so forth.          Homesteading:   It's not always easy, but it is always worth it!

City bylaws making it illegal to grow gardens or raise rabbits and a few chickens. Where is this going to end? It was not all that long ago when these things were ENCOURAGED…victory gardens during wartime, In 1918 “Uncle Sam was reported to have put out posters…Two Chickens in the back yard for each person in the household would keep a family in eggs by feeding them kitchen waste and very little attention only a few minutes a day!” Does this sound like the governments that rule North America today? It is time, now more than ever, to start saving seeds. Protecting heritage farm animal breeds and standing up and proving that heritage animals and seeds are IMPORTANT to us all! Lets Talk!

The Homestead Honey Hour! Thursdays *9:00pm/Est *8:00pm/Ct *7:00pm/Mt *6:00pm/Pt Live Listen and Chat go to: http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ Debt is a slave master no matter how you look at it.  It never works for you, only against you when it comes to having choices and being able to take advantage of opportunities that present themselves.  Debt and freedom are longtime adversaries. For the homesteader or prepper, the goal should be to free oneself of debt.  But how?   What about getting that rural retreat or affording a year’s worth of food?  How does one acquire those big ticket items without debt?    Is it even practical or possible to live without debt nowadays?  Is some debt acceptable in some circumstances?  Where does one begin to sort it all out?  Well, as one of my favorite movie characters, Bob Wiley in “What About Bob?” learned, it’s all about baby steps, and being unconventional in thinking and approach.  (And Lord knows, we preppers and homesteaders certainly have that skill!)
So, please join me Thursday, December 20 at 8 pm CST on the Homestead Honey Hour as I talk about the unmentionable — our money and how we might be masters of it instead of slaves.  Let’s discuss strategies, budgets, spending (and saving!) patterns, and mindsets what will help us NOT keep up with the Jone’s credit line. This exciting thriller revolves around the unprecedented events occurring daily within our nation and the world. It is a controversial story that exposes the truths behind the present state of our economy, the political arena, the failing educational system, the expunging of our constitutional liberties, the violent behavior of our youth, the vast emergence of deadly diseases, and much more. This story also depicts the ultimate results of the world’s descent, while offering the only solution.” So tune in on Thursday for what will be a very interesting discussion about a very interesting book.  A book that is fiction wrapped in the reality that we are currently living in today.
