    America and Her Children – To Learn the Truth and Share with Diane Kepus

     Americans protecting their country and preserving the founding fathers Godly agenda today is a full time job for Americans and most Americans lives are such they not only don’t have the time to indulge in the time it takes to learn the truth about all the things being used against them, but most hope they will either self-correct or just go away. Sadly, Americans need to understand what they are fighting and who their enemies are.
     Parents I hate to put the major load on you but that is where it has to be. Your influence and instruction are the foundation for the rest of your child’s life. It has always been that way and it should be. There are morals and values that no matter if you follow a religion or you don’t, they lay the foundation for life that is impossible to replace.

    Luke 18:1 (KJV)
    1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

    Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

    9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
    10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
    11 Give us this day our daily bread.
    12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

    Are Children Over Medicated? Gayani DeSilva M.D.

    in Women

    he California legislature is beginning to look at the way children are medicated with psychiatric medications. Some purport that prescribing practices are to blame—that psychiatrists are prescribing too many anti-psychotic medications which have significant and serious side effects to children, particularly in the foster care system. The practice of prescribing psychiatric medications to children is a direct result of the "presenting complaint" brought to the attention of the psychiatrist. The overuse or underuse of medication or inappropriate use of medication for foster children is a symptom of a much larger problem with the care of children in the foster care system.

    Dr. DeSilva has spent over 15 years as a Psychiatrist, specifically enhancing the mental health of children and adolescents. Much of her work consists of the complex array of needs with adolescent and young adult criminal and violent offenders to understand the interplay between mental illness, societal factors, and interpersonal issues. In this climate of horrific violence much of it perpetrated by adolescents and young adults in society today, she believes understanding the needs of children is crucial to preventing further tragic events. Dr. DeSilva believes not only must children with mental illness obtain the care they desperately need, it is vital adults participating in child rearing educate themselves about children's development and learn to communicate effectively with children and adolescents

    Incontrovertible Truths: Teaching our Children Their Confederate History

    in Moms and Family

    Living in the south, with all its charms, traditions and iconography does not offer access into certain aspects of her history, especially when that history involves discussions around the Civil War and the Confederacy. The inability to rake through the smoldering ashes of a war fought 150 years ago, allows for a one-sided narrative that sometimes misrepresents the causes for war, the people - enslaved and free - who lived through the war and and its aftermath. Although it is a necessary, and some might add, long overdue undertaking, it is also anxiety ridden, especially within the black community.

    How can parents of color approach this subject and explain to their children a war fought over, among other things, a system of that relegated their ancestors to permanent servitude?

    Today, the Mommy Chronicles is on site as the Alabama State University Department of History and Political Science explores those issues by examining the Civil War history at its first Confederate Memorial Day "Mini" Conference.
