Designers are sounding off about what impressed at this year's Architectural Digest Home Design Show
We're talking with top New York home design style-makers about the 2014 Architectural Digest Home Design Show (ADHDS) on this week's MyFixitUpLife talk show. We're talking avant garde genius, home technology, and how to embrace a risk-taking attitude in your home design with two of our favorite designers Patrick Hamiliton and Tyler Wisler.
Popularly known as 'Ask Patrick' in the social networking world, Patrick Hamilton is an interior designer, tastemaker, stylist and stager. As seen on HGTV, "Small Space, Big Style" and "Rate My Space." Featured on HouseBeautiful.com. Winner of the ApartmentTherapy.com first annual "Smallest Coolest Apartment Contest," winner of the Bloomingdale's "Big Window Challenge," with interiors appearing everywhere from the cover of Florida Home & Garden to the pages of Ladies Home Journal. Patrick is also an interior blogger, writer, interviewer and diehard interior enthusiast. Patrick says: “Context is huge in pulling a space together, and each piece (ideally) relates to the next. It’s like having one lonely guest at a costume party... no one feels comfortable when the first arrival has nobody to talk to.”
Tyler Wisler is known for his work on HGTV 'DESIGN STAR' where Tyler showcased his talents both as a designer and as a television personality. He has since been featured on the NBC makeover show, “George to the Rescue,” and filmed several news segments as a design expert. Recognizing his keen eye, the mega online retailer, OpenSky, asked Tyler to come aboard as a permanent Taste Maker. Says Tyler: “The measure of a great room is the amount of happiness you feel when you’re in it…”

Tune in for a great, conversationally-stimulating show.
Be sure to tun into tonight's show live from 7-9pm CST! We've got another classic lined up. We'll be joined by Milwaukee Mayoral Candidate, James Methu, to hear what he likes & dislikes about the new Milwaukee Bucks arena funding plan and how he'd change it. We'll also touch on the Shaquille O'Neal vs Scottie Pippen drama, as well as the Ghostface Killah vs Action Bronson beef! Also, we'll touch on if the Milwaukee Brewers should be sellers, John Henson's contract extension, and the addition of Chris Copeland. Tune in!?
Have you ever done a detox in order to eliminate toxins from your body? How about the toxins in our own home?
With the average house containing over 500 chemicals and the increasing knowledge that common household cleaning products are found to have negative effects on our bodies, it’s more important than ever to clear our homes of dangerous toxins for the health and safety of our families and ourselves.

Obstacle course racing is the next soccer. Yeah, it's a 'thing'. You've probably heard of one. Or know someone who has---or will---do one. They change lives.
And for us MyFixitUpLifer's there's an extra cool part: It's loaded with DIY of building stuff. So if you’re not lacing up for your own obstacle course racing journey, without people to build the obstacles—for races or for backyards---the race is just a walk in the woods. So this MyFixitUpLife show will inspire the fire for the DIY of OCR.
Spartan Race’s (in)famous Race Director Norm Koch takes us behind the spectacle where the tools are machetes and chainsaws and a whole lotta work. And HGTV’s John Colaneri—co-host of America’s Most Desperate Kitchens and a Spartan racing / Cross-fit nut job (we love you anyway Johnny)—chimes in with fitness tips he uses to stay extra handsome.
This isn't about the gym. Or how fast you go. It's about life itself and building your own tools for the journey. As someone I admire wrote: I already know what it feels like to fail. I want to see what it's like to succeed.
Life happens to all of us. It's what we do about it that counts; how we handle the obstacles.
So tool up and come obstacle course racing with us Lifers, time for a little dirty fun.
