Today, John Stanko speaks with Herb Shaffer, the founding pastor of New Song Community Church and the director of the institute for Servant Leadership. As an MSOL alumnus, Herb recognizes the value of effective leadership and strives to live that out in his many endeavors as a leader, teacher, trainer, mentor, motivational speaker, and writer.
Beginning from scratch in 1990, Herb has worked with New Song Community Church through the organizational phases from its birth to its maturity and has exemplified servant leadership as he used his God-given abilities to pour into and build up the congregation. Additionally, through his director role with Servant Leadership, he invests in the lives of laypeople and pastors to develop them as leaders for local congregations. His unique experience with ministry and MSOL has also presented him with the opportunity to educate others via college courses in the areas of leadership, organizational dynamics, critical thinking, communication, and life development.

Julian Lewis Jones, actor and keen Welsh fisherman, shares what it was like growing up on an island. Julian was drawn to sea fishing at an early age and his passion and love for all things “fishy” continues to this day! He reveals the best places to fish around Cardiff and gives a story about his fresh catch for actor/director Clint Eastwood. All this and more when we interview Julian Lewis Jones on this episode of Travel Today with Peter Greenberg from the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, UK.
Peter Greenberg ventures to Marrakech, Morocco to interview guests at the 2014 Global Spa & Wellness Summit. Alexis Jones, Author and Founder of I Am That Girl, discusses how she learned to make smart decisions while traveling alone, such as not drinking alcohol and choosing female-only hostels. This week's Travel Today with Peter Greenberg comes from the new Peninsula Paris in France. Grant Rosenberg, programs manager for the American Library in Paris, explains that the French language is not just the language of love and why the American Library in Paris is a cultural center of the city—it houses the largest collection of English books on the entire continent.
This week, Peter Greenberg Worldwide broadcasts from all-new The Peninsula Paris, but don’t let “new” fool you—The Peninsula Paris is located in a late 19th century classic Haussmanian building, which first opened as one of Paris’ most luxurious “grands hotels” in 1908. It’s been a hospital, a military headquarters and the hotel that inspired George Gershwin to write An American in Paris.
The hotel has all the amazing (and expected) Peninsula touches, a great Chinese restaurant, and a real bonus: one of the greatest hotel rooftop bars in the world. From there, you can see every major Paris monument. Impressive by day….spectacular at night. Like my other favorite hotel, the Peninsula in Shanghai, the Paris version does it right.
Joining Peter Greenberg this week are Pauline Wong Lemasson from the American Library in Paris, with the secrets of the city of light and the story of this remarkable library; Alec Lobrano, author of Hungry for Paris, who describes surprise food finds in Paris (great dim sum?) and gives his advice for making the most of a trip to Paris. Isabelle Garnerone, founder and editor of Edgar, describes the palace hotels of Paris. Also joining us is Roger Dow, President and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, who shares his predictions on next year’s exciting U.S. travel trends. All of this and more on this week’s broadcast of Peter Greenberg Worldwide from the Peninsula Paris.
Hubert Winston from the Dominica Marine Center goes into detail about one of his absolute favorite topics: boats. Peter and Hubert realize they have a lot in common when discussing the marine life around the island. All this and more when Travel Today with Peter Greenberg comes to you from the remote island of Dominica.
Dominica is known as the “nature island” and boasts amazing ecological wonders, including lush waterfalls, hiking trails, and tropical forests. If you are looking for a Caribbean beach destination, you are not going to find it here. Instead, it’s the island of adventure.
This week, Travel Today with Peter Greenberg comes to you from the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau, Dominica. We talk to the locals about boats, UNESCO Cultural Sites, and Dominica cooking.
