Coping with being a step parent

    in Lifestyle

Join Ms. Mary & Dr. Janet as they discuss blended families. "When families "blend" to create step families, things rarely progress smoothly. Some children may resist changes, while parents can become frustrated when the new family doesn't function like their previous family. While changes to family structure require adjustment time for everyone involved, these guidelines can help blended families work out their growing pains and live together successfully." ~Helpguide.org

    From Distress To De-Stress

    in Self Help

When did we automatically begin to think of the end of the year holiday season as stressful? When did we start using that language? Why isn’t stress and depression connected as strongly to other holidays? Just how did we get here? The holidays are supposed to be joyful but the combination of stress and bad diets is killing us! Stress doesn’t just sneak up on us out of the blue or barge uninvited into our lives. We create it. Feed it, nurture it and maintain it with our thoughts, attitude and actions. Bad food doesn’t magically appear. We create poor eating habits, make excuses for obesity and take medication instead of taking control and advancing our wellness. What is it that enables us to value stress and poison over our well being? Is it as simple as changing your mind?
