The HD View Ask Dr. Goodman Show

    in Health

    TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2015 - 3:30 PM PST/6:30 PM EST

Tonight Dr. Goodman will be talking about aggression in Huntington’s disease. A recent article reports that aggression is common in individuals with Huntington's disease. Authors report rates of aggressive behaviors between 22% (for clinic patients) and 66% (for hospitalized patients) among individuals with HD. What do they mean by aggression, and how should we interpret these numbers? It is important to remember that aggression (as defined in this article) and violence are NOT the same thing.

However, the most important thing to learn is not how often it occurs, but how we can understand, cope with and treat aggressive behaviors in HD.

Johnny Strozier Keeping It Real - Reentry 05/23/15

    in Politics Progressive

Johnny Strozier was a Georgia prisoner for 46 years (from 1968 to 2013) and served about 15 of those years in solitary confinement. Call-in to speak on air at 347.857.3293. Strozier was initially arrested at age 6, when he and friends burglarized an Atlanta warehouse to steal cigarettes for family members and candy for themselves. He was first imprisoned at age 10. His sentence was lengthened numerous times due to his lack of cooperation with juvenile detention rules. Later, his sentence was lengthened to 90 years after assaulting a prison guard.

Strozier's warden told him he would never exit prison alive because he often escaped and was involved in gang activity, but Strozier changed. He became a Christian in the 1980s. Strozier became active in church, married, and gained his high school diploma while still incarcerated. He also became a certified cook and brick mason. Since prison release, Strozier works, counsels youths, and faithfully attends church. Strozier has been presented to speak at prestigious engagements before college student bodies, civil rights officials, and church congregations. In fact, Strozier assembled a group of churches and individuals to help other released inmates find subsistence assistance, encouragement, and a spiritual family.

Strozier will share information about reentry opportunities, the importance of avoiding behavior that leads to incarceration, and he plans interviews with persons who can share valuable information that will improve lives of former inmates and at-risk youths. Phone Strozier at 678.516.4993.

    Walking In Obediance

    in Spirituality

Obedience is not a popular word today. Many people live their lives according to how they feel and have a blatant disregard for God Word however, the Word of God is very clear that obedience is a necessary and crucially important part of our life as Christians.

Definition of Obedience According to Webster Dictionary

compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another's authority:

"children were taught to show their parents obedience"

Many people often confuse obedience for submission listed below is a biblical difference between the two.

Obey – The Biblical word for “obey” comes from the Greek “hupakou” which means to listen attentively; by implication to heed or conform to a command or authority. This word conveys the idea of actively following a command. There is no choice in the matter, it is to be done whether one agrees with it or not. Obedience is involuntary.

Submit – The Biblical word “submit” comes from the Greek “hupeiko” which means to yield; to passively surrender to an authority. Submission is similar to obedience but in this case one might question what is being commanded. Submission is voluntary. [1]

    Reward of Obedience

Proverbs 13:13 whoever despises the word brings destruction on himself, but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded.

    The Cost of Disobedience
Romans 2:6-8 He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

THE COOL CRITICS / MICKEY STEVENSON - DANCING IN THE STREETS

    in Radio

On the Saturday before MOTHER'S DAY, the cool critics did a show on MOTHERS.  A dedication to mothers.  A week ago because B.B. King died, the Cool Critics did a show on BB King.  Both of the shows are available via BlogTalk to download if you want.

THIS WEEK, after having William "Mickey" Stevenson on KINGS IN THE MORNING, I was thoroughly impressed of what that man brought to MOTOWN Records.  Mickey Stevenson put Motown Records on the map with his writings, with his producing, with his organization.  I saw his name on records, but I never knew how valuable William "MICKEY" Stevenson was the the Motown foundation. With a great foundation like MOTOWN has become, where do you think, the Commodores, Rick James, The Jackson 5, the many many MANY artists that Berry Gordy Jr & the MOTOWN company created, exposed, manufactured and more would have been had there not been a Motown Music Empire?  Today, you will hear his words, his works and learn some information on a piece of Motown.  Thank you for joining us!

Live: Virus, Vaccines and the importance of Anti-viral Aromatherapy Oils.

    in Music

Topic :  - Virus, Vaccines and the importance of Anti-viral Aromatherapy Oils.

Most essential oils have some antiviral properties, but some are much better at combatting and treating viruses than others! Try to start using oils as soon as your symptoms start....it's easier to fend off viruses if they are caught early. In fact, using them as prevention is probably the best course of action! For example, some essential oils are beneficial for improving and boosting your immune system......but certain ones work better against specific viruses. Just to get you started here are some great, easy to get hold of antiviral essential oils such as: bergamot, cinnamon bark, clary sage, clove, dill, anise, eucalyptus, geranium, juniper, lavender, lemongrass, Melissa, neroli, rose, rosemary, tea tree and thyme.

More about the Antiviral Essential Oils:Viruses give rise to pro-teiform pathologies, some of which medical science can do nothing to cure. Classic responses to these infections are very limited, so essential oils are a godsend in treating viral problems, from the most common to the most fearsome. The molecules from many chemical families have shown an in-vitro antiviral activity, among them monoterpenols and monoterpenals. The cineole – monoterpenol synergy is used to treat viral pathologies of the respiratory tract (widely seen in temperate climes). This synergy can be found in many essential oils that come from trees of the Myrteceae family; these have been known forever for their interest in the treatment of pulmonary diseases. Another couple, linalool oxide – linalool (Hissopus off. var. decumbens) is also interesting for viral pathologies of the lower respiratory tract. Ketones, and especially rare cryptone, have shown an interesting capacity to fight naked viruses.

The 7 Churches of Revelation - Part 6 Philadelphia (Rev. 3:7-13)

    in Christianity

Rev 3:7  And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens.

Rev 3:8  I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

Rev 3:9  Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you.

Rev 3:10  Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.

Rev 3:11  I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.

Rev 3:12  The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.

Rev 3:13  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
