After a brief vacation, Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti and George "the Howitzer" Gerbo are back and better than ever (of course they'd say that). During their break, asininity in the sports world was at a premium, as usual.
In a shocking turn of events, the Kansas City Royals rolled through the American League to reach the franchises first World Series since 1985. Has this run by the Royals been more a lucky ridiculous hot streak or something to be admired? Mike vs George goes 12 rounds on this topic. You want someone who is not surprised and feels asking the legitimacy of a team going undefeated in a postseason is asinine, we give you the Buzz-saw. You want someone who has never bought into the Royals and characterizes their dominance as an "aberration" pennant, we give you the Howitzer. Has baseball actually witnessed a generational trend of these "aberration" pennants or championships, by teams breaking long droughts and seemingly coming out of nowhere?
Kansas City is in the Fall Classic for the first time in 29 years. San Francisco, on the other hand, has reached their third World Series in five seasons. Will a third championship (2010, 2012, 2014?) make the Giants a dynasty? What is it about this team that becomes a winning cockroach in the postseason? With some moving parts, who are the "faces" of this potential Giants dynasty?
The NHL is underway. Which teams have significantly improved? Are there some perennial contenders that will disappoint (cough, Detroit Red Wings)?
Ole Miss and Mississippi State are both at top of the college football rankings. Yes, you read that right. Did Notre Dame fall into the driver seat for a playoff spot?
HBS radio gold has returned, as the Howitzer and Buzz-saw conquer sports radio, one day, at a time....

Tonight's guests: State Representative Michael Callton (R-Nashville) and Lansing beat reporter Jake Neher
Recent reports and statements concerning patient friendly bills HB4271 and HB5104 to recognize medical marijuana distribution facilities on a state-wide level and to correct a bad court of appeals decision have many speculating on the fate of the bills. They are awaiting a vote on the Michigan Senate floor, approval of changes made by the House of Representatives, then consideration from the Governor before they would become law. Governor Snyder says that he could support the bills with some amendments. One change may include adding more state oversight of dispensaries.
Democratic candidate for Governor Mark Schauer has made his support of the medical marijuana program clear in media interviews and on a statement recently posted to his campaign's web site, which also includes support for the passage of HBs 4271 and 5104.
Joining us tonight - Representative Michael Callton will provide an update on the bills, and to clarify whether the proposed inclusion of additional oversight by the state indicates that the local option concept may be changed before passage into law.
Also- Jake Neher state Capitol reporter for the Michigan Public Radio Network, who recently interviewed the governor's office and the sponsor of HB4271.
We will also examine the recently posted statement by the Mark Schauer campaign in support of medical marijuana, and what he has said on the issue in media and at fundraising events.
Michael's rant, news, current events and more!
Fall means one main thing on the sports calender, postseason baseball. Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti and George "the Howitzer" Gerbo guide you through this seasonal change. But remember, they won't dumb anything down for the buffoons.
Football has been taking over the headlines (and this show) with asinine off the field drama. Now it's baseball's turn to gain some attention. Most of the pennant races have wrapped up, and the October puzzle piece is almost finished.
The Pirates validate their magical 2013 with back to back playoff appearances. Can Andrew McCutchen and crew make an even deeper run this time around? Will this finally be the year the Dodgers get Vin Scully's voice back on the World Series stage? Is there even a debate on Clayton Kershaw being the NL MVP? What's the Nationals biggest weakness?
With the usual Red Sox and Yankee powerhouses out of contention, the American League is open for an uncommon champion. Who is the true AL favorite, the Angels and their super-stars, the Orioles and their bats, or the Tigers and their names? They all may look good on paper, but Mike is fully slurping the under the radar Royals. Does Billy Beane need his A's to win for his legacy? Your favorite sports genius' have the answer to why Kansas City's historic season been ignored mostly ignored.
Major League Baseball is entering its epic month, while college football is starting to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Forget the polls, who is the best team in the nation? FYI: it's not Florida State.
Another week in the annual HBS NFL Pick'em Challenge continues. Sorry George, the heel always wins.
The Howitzer and Buzz-saw are simply better than you, and conquer sports radio, one day, at a time....
Once again, the fun has been sucked from sports. The NFL new season is under way and the games seem meaningless. In a twist of epic asinine proportions, new revelations in the Ray Rice domestic violence scandal have surfaced.
Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti and George "the Howitzer" Gerbo usually appreciate the off the field asinine topics. This is just too much.
Ray Rice went from sitting out only two games to being released by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL, all thanks to TMZ. Outlets like TMZ and Deadspin have been proved to rule the world. If TMZ could obtain the video of Ray Rice knocking out his then fiance Janay Palmer, how are we supposed to believe the mighty National Football League could not? If TMZ never made this video public, would Ray Rice be starting in week three? Is Roger Goodell lying about having not seen the video months ago? How could the NFL and the Ravens have handled this whole situation better? Mike rants that Roger Goodell is either a negligent moron or a scum liar. Which do you believe....? While George can't imagine someone would be so evil and careless, he's leaning towards joining Mike's world of Hell, fire, and brimstone.
Oh yeah, the NFL season has kicked off. We adavnce towards week two in the annual HBS NFL Pick'em Challenge. Can anything be made of all the upsets? Are perennial contenders, New England, Green Bay, and New Orleans already in must wins?
Shockingly baseball is bringing a sense of normalcy. There's just a few weeks left of the season, but the pennant race is far from over. Who will claim the final NL and AL Wild Card spots? Are the Royals going to hang around and steal a division title from Detroit? Have the Pirates managed to crawl into the playoffs? Did Adam Dunn curse the A's?
