Once upon a time, a hundred years ago, there were four brothers named Leonard, Arthur, Julius, and Milton. The world would get to know them as Chico, Harpo, Groucho, and Zeppo (Zeppo replaced Gummo in 1918). In celebration of The Marx Brothers storied careers, Wednesday, April 30, 3 pm ET, The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Talk Radio for Fine Minds, in conjunction with the month-long New York City event, Marxfest, brings you an hour you won’t soon forget.
Joining the conversation is one of the iconic interviewers of all time, Dick Cavett. Dick Cavett was the host of The Dick Cavett Show, which aired on ABC from 1968 to 1975 and on PBS from 1977 to 1982. When asked who his favorite interview was, he named Groucho Marx. They had an enduring friendship.
Bill Marx is the son of Harpo Marx. He studied composition in New York at the Juilliard School of Music. He has written many concert works. He has also composed for motion pictures, television, theater and ballet. Bill has produced, arranged for and performed as pianist as well with many top jazz and pop artists, including Doris Day.
In 2012, Kevin Fitzpatrick launched the Marxfest Committee. An independent historian who founded the Dorothy Parker Society and is the author of The Algonquin Round Table New York: A Historical Guide.
Noah Diamond is a writer and performer. He serves as Marx Brothers Historian, which seeks landmark status for the Marxes’ childhood home. He has a long history of playing Groucho Marx, including in his own upcoming adaptation of I’ll Say She Is, the 1924 Broadway debut of the Marx Brothers.
Performer, writer, producer and director Trav SD is the author of No Applause, Just Throw Money: The Book That Made Vaudeville Famous, which Bette Midler calls the “best showbiz book” and Chain of Fools: Silent Comedy and Its Legacies from Nickelodeons to YouTube.
She is a media mogul, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist. Her multi-award winning talk show was the highest-rated program of its kind in history and was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2011. Known as the "Queen of All Media", she has been ranked as the richest African-American of the 20th century by Forbes, the greatest black philanthropist in American history, and is currently North America's only black billionaire. CNN and TIME called her "arguably the world's most powerful woman" and TIME named her "one of the most influential people" from 2004 to 2011. In 2013, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama and received an honorary doctorate degree from Harvard University. In fact, Barack Obama would not be president of the United States without this woman.
On April 23, 2012, while introducing her "Lifeclass Tour" to a Radio City Music Hall audience in New York City she made a public profession of her faith. She said, "I am not talking about religion. I am a Christian. That is my faith. I'm not asking you to be a Christian. If you want to be one I can show you how. But it is not required. I have respect for all faiths... My favorite Bible verse, because I am a Christian, is Acts 17:28. It says, 'In God I live, and move, and have my being.' And you want to know why I'm so successful? Because I knew that at four-years-old, I wouldn't be who I am today without that."
Banks Helfrich has been everything from a professional triathlete to a circus clown, a Harpo Marx look-alike at Universal Studios (Orlando FL) to David Letterman's the Ball Guy from "Is this Anything?" He is also a filmmaker, and writes and directs a feature every two years. In 2009, "the donut, the balloon and the lifesaver" created buzz on the film festival circuit. "the ah of life," has captured attention with the Audience Choice Award at UNA George Lindsey Film Festival, Best Feature at Independents' Film Festival, Best Trailer at Fearless Film Festival and acceptances at San Antonio Film Festival and Woods Hole Film Festival. These are just examples. All his films certainly have captured an audience.
His newest project is a very cerebral but funfilm called "fat, dumb and happy." The film follows Walter Quill, a writer who thinks he is God and who has a wife who pays more attention to the dogs than she does to him (or her kids). His kids similarly ignore him. Meanwhile, he has six weeks to get a finished best-selling novel to his agent. By looking at his own life, he is able to create a more happy reality in his own head. The juxtaposition between fantasy and reality leads him to ask the hard questions, like "Why is happiness so elusive" and "how do I brush too hard when I'm using a soft bristle brush?"

Today marks, International Women's Day around the world. In the US we celebrate the entire month of March as Women's History Month. I see it as a way to celebrate how far we have come. I realize that we have a long way to go, but we are for more progressed than say 30 years ago! This is not to say that we have not taken a few steps back along the way, but still far more progressed.
I know that I have been missing in action for a little while. So we will talk about the progress of women entrepreneurs and I will share some tidbits from my new project.
My new book, From Failure to Fearless, will be launching on March 14, 2014 live on Amazon's Kindle, Apple's iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Sony, and other great book retailers as well. I am so excited!!!
The best part is that the price point is $2.99 - Just 3 bucks!
I discuss how Oprah's Harpo Studios, Vanessa Williams, Suze Orman, Jillian Michaels, and so many more people and situations personally helped me through my journey as entrepreneur (even when my failures involved them directly by no fault of their own).
You will be inspired and empowered and hopefully learn from all of my massive failures and flaws.
It is an easy read - about 40 pages! I like to get to the point without all the fluff that most books have.
I lay out my massive failures and flaws (which is not easy to do - completely vulnerable place to be in) and the lessons of how I overcame it.
But more importantly you will learn how you can reinvent how you look at failures and embrace your flaws to create a fearless ass kicking future that can be applied to both business and life.
