The Kerri Edelman Show presents Dark Alt/Hard Rock Band September Mourning

    in Rock Music

September Mourning has just recorded her debut EP. It tells a story in 6 songs, an epic tale of “heartbreak, loss, pain, joy, love, redemption, but most of all, courage…” Produced by Sahaj Ticotin, September Mourning revives the concept of rock star meets superhero. If Marilyn Manson and X-Men's Storm had a kid, it would be September Mourning, who also cites influences as varied as Paramore, Motionless in White, David Bowie, and My Chemical Romance. “For me, the project is a story, a theatrical art piece,” September explains. “Music is the backbone, but for this to work, it has to include the imagery and the narrative all symbiotically linked into the whole. Music taps into your innermost being. There’s something very intimate and personal about it.” The character of September Mourning is a human-reaper hybrid, who feels the need to give some human souls a second chance, and thus toys with Fate. To expound on this narrative, September is working with iconic comic book artist Marc Silvestri, who started out on the original X-Men comics and went on to form Top Cow Productions (Witchblade, The Darkness). Together, they are putting together the story of September Mourning in graphic form, to accompany, and enhance the musical message. Having toured with Marilyn Manson, September Mourning has already built up an impressive fan base, which she calls her “Children of Fate,” constantly encouraging them to have “the courage to embrace their passion… to allow yourself to follow your heart and not be a slave to your fears. To know that the only boundaries that exist in our lives are the ones we allow.” Be sure to pick up a copy of their amazing EP titled 'Volume I' featuring the hit single 'Eye Of The Storm.' Memories Of Pain - the forgotten survivors

    in Radio

Here we go countdown to Christmas, and the holidays.  Holidays are a time of reflection and remembrance and a time to celebrate the people in our lives.  For many survivors this is a time of year where these memories are only pain.  The pain of those who would not or could not wait for us to heal.  Because of the amount of time it takes to come back from a brain injury people forget and discount us one by one.  Till in many cases no one is left.  And by the time the survivor gets a chance to see any clarity after brain injury their whole life has crumbled into ashes.
As each year passes the memories become harder and more painful.  So overwhelming to one’s soul that the hope for death is our greatest hope.  A hope for peace.  We the survivors are no longer a part of the life we once had.  We never had a chance.  The thoughts that race through our heads, the thoughts of not being worth it to a single person.  And anyone who might be the slightest part of our life have discounted us and gone, mental and hopeless.  Yet here we are trapped inside this vessel that was who we were ignored, disliked and misunderstood.
Like it or not we have been called to a higher purpose whatever that means.  But find that purpose we must because the powers of darkness and negativity are there constantly to remind us of our unworthiness.  Together we can help each other discover our individual purposes that is the glue to the universe.  Yes our loss is tragic and hard, and feels so unfair.  But we were picked by the universe for something greater than ourselves.  And like it or not it is our destiny, a destiny that we can live or fight.
Share you journey tonight, help create a discussion that can be shared to help other begin their journey!
