Our Blog at www.Katara-Rhythm.com is entitled "Living in America- Freedom is measured by Economics.” That will be our shows theme. “African-Americans’ buying power is expected to reach $1.1 trillion by 2015.” This was a statement by Nielsen (9-22-2011) in their Consumer Report on the Power of the African-American Consumer. It was based upon data from couple of prominent consumer data-gathering organizations. Nielsen released a report on black consumption entitled Resilient, Receptive and Relevant in 2013. Those are the three key words we will look at on this show. Listen to comments from “People on the Street” regarding the consumer Report. It’s a new segment for our show. We examine the performance of Chadwick Boseman in the James Brown bio film “Get on Up.” We will review a couple of cuts from Bill Banfield’s Jazz Urbane CD, “Playing with Other People’s Heads.” Rich Tycoon will drop by allowing us to debut his latest recording. And of course, there will be other surprises. Join us for what promises to be a real lively show.
Alfredetta Ward is a strong, ambitious young entrepreneur who is innovative and motivated to see her performers shine. In 1997, while employed at Tyrone’s on Broadway supper club in Oakland CA she formed a vision. While listening to many aspiring singers, an appreciation of their talent inspired her to create a different type of venue. She created Miss Pumpkin Productions.
From 1998 - 2001 produced Old School 70's music tribute shows with groups such as the Old School Ballards, and The Legendary California Malibu's. She was able to land a well-known local venue (Sweet Jimmy's) for her first production and later move on to larger venues as her reputation grew. Her events became the number one place to be, especially on holidays and days such as Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day.
In 2005, she created Miss Pumpkin's Karaoke Showdown / Throw down Battle of the Sexes vocal competition. The show was picked up by local cable network leading to a better version called, Show down / Throw down Battle of the Sexes Part 2. It had a two-year run which lead to the show winning an award for outstanding production.
Miss Pumpkin has become well-known, spotlighted KJDJ, meaning she is not your average disc jockey. She added fabulous theme parties and numerous contests to her shows. Currently, Miss Pumpkin has established a new hit tribute show entitled Miss Pumpkin's Tribute to Legendary Stars, and Tracy Got Talent 2014. Her fabulous tribute show has graced popular venues such as The Gallo Theater, Modesto CA., The Bob Hope Theater, Stockton CA, The Flamingo Resort, Santa Rosa, CA, and the Stockton Fairgrounds to name a few.
From a waitress to event planner, show promoter, club owner, and KJDJ, she is headed for more success in the world of entertainment. Miss Pumpkin and her Production Supervisor, Samantha Richardson will be our special guest for this show.
Mr. Nelson takes an indebt look at our country's history and details some 42 point conclusions on what kind of country this would be if the South had won the Civil War. Or would it have survived into the twenty-first century? What affects would their victory have had on the world? As President Lincoln said in his second inaugural address; “Both parties deprecated war, but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive, and the other would accept war rather than let it perish, and the war came.” Mr. Nelson who created the Facebook group “The Civic Mentor” also wrote and continually updates a paper he entitles “My Preliminary Vision Statement”. His vision and reasoning is that community, local, national, and world involvement starts at the neighborhood level. He is one of those great individuals whose primary concern is mankind. Join us live, for a very interested discussion. Our Chat Room will be open allowing debate among callers while they are waiting to submit a question to our guest.
Given the fact that we have lost an R&B giant in Bobby Womack, we are dedicating this show to our Soul Brother. We are going to play music from our Host collection for your enjoyment. No copyright infringement intended here. We just want to pay tribute to a man for all season.

It's the Election Boycott hour on Carson's Corner this week! Join Bob Carson and cohost Christopher Alan Driscoll as they discuss the Election Boycott Advocates, and welcome members, supporters, and callers to the show.
Last week, we discussed the corrupt system, which Thomas Baldwin says, "Is controlled by the two party duopoly." In addition, we discussed the ineffectiveness of the 3rd party candidates. As Christopher Alan Driscoll noted, there has been a substantial effort (over 200 times) to create third parties, and yet they produce very little results. Ralph Nader, one of the nation's most recognizable figures, only got 2.7% of the vote in 2000. As Bob Carson noted, the fact that 3rd party candidates are not even close in the polls shows you that the party platforms don't matter; votes are cast for PR purposes.
What about the argument that getting money out of politics? Emmagee Mindy from Oregon notes that Janet Napolitano, former governor of Arizona, ran on a clean money platform and yet now she is the President UC Berkeley, making money off of student debt.
This week we will discuss all of these important issues, plus the People's Climate March. What do the boycotters feel about the march? Tune at 9pm est to find out.
The United States of America is loved by many, hated by many, admired by many and laughed at my many. The American People are often immitated, ridiculed, made fun of and looked at is violent, arrogant, greedy and sometimes as ridiculous. More often than not, I think America and it's people are simply misunderstood.
This week, we will focus on what makes America, America... We are looking for Great American Stories, rather good, bad, funny, horrible or heart wrenching. This week, we want real stories, from real people and we want real discussion about why some love us and why some hate us. What is good about our nation and what is bad? What needs to change and how can we change it?
On Sunday, September 21st, just click this link or dial (818) 739-8909 to listen by phone, from anywhere. Then, dial 1 to join our on air discussion.
