Inspirational Coach & Author Jim Johnson and
My guest this Wednesday is Coach Jim Johnson, author of the bestselling book, "A Coach And A Miracle". On Feb. 15, 2006, Coach Johnson made the kindhearted gesture of inserting his autistic manager, Jason McElwain, now known to the world as J-Mac into Greece Athena High School’s final home game, which the Trojans won 79-43. J-Mac scored 20 points in just over four minutes, including six three-point baskets, to become an instant national celebrity. Coach Johnson, also, was featured in major news outlets around the country.
Coach Johnson has made a number of radio and television appearances, including the Oprah Winfrey and Jim Rome shows. In 2006 he met President George W. Bush, Governor George Pataki, and Senator Hillary Clinton, to name just a few luminaries. The Athena team was also paid a visit at school by NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson. J-Mac’s magic moment won the ESPY for “Best Sports Moment” at the ESPN awards show later that year.

in Weight Loss
It's become common knowledge that weight loss is not merely about energy balance - calories in, calories out. Modern day science has demonstrated that calories are not created equal and each person loses weight differently. It's also become some what common that how we carbohydrates (carbs) plays the biggest role in whether we gain weight or lose it. In this radio show, Robert Ferguson shares insight into his "Super Simple Method of Carb Stepping" and how you (anyone) can cut through the confusion, and eat food favorites to include carbs in the right portion and in the right combination to optimize blood sugar, insulin levels and lose all the weigh one wants.

On the site of the Manassas Industrial School for Colored Youth, this five-acre park is now a park of remembrance for the school’s founder, former slave Jennie Dean. The outlines of the foundations of the original building are marked, and there is a model of the school and a kiosk with an audio program that provides information about Dean and the school’s founding. Dean raised money for the school for almost 10 years before Manassas Industrial was chartered in 1893. The dedication ceremonies were led by orator Frederick Douglass.
This five-acre archaeological site, dedicated in 1995, is located on the original site of the Manassas Industrial School for Colored Youth. The school was founded largely through the efforts of a former enslaved woman, Jennie Dean who, after almost a decade of charismatic fundraising, chartered the school on October 7, 1893. The school was designed as a private residential institution providing both academic and vocational training within a Christian setting.
