Episode 170: Stolen Seas; Tales of Somali Piracy

    in Military

We have heard from industry, military leaders, Marines, and private security providers, this Sunday we are going to look at piracy at a more personal level with director Thymaya Payne of the documentary, Stolen Seas; Tales of Somali Piracy. He will be our guest for the full hour.
    From the show promo:
The filmmakers have spent the past three years traveling to some of the world's most violent locales in order to make this documentary on Somali piracy, Stolen Seas. Utilizing exclusive interviews and unparalleled access to real pirates, hostages, hostages' relatives, ship-owners, pirate negotiators and experts on piracy and international policy, Stolen Seas presents a chilling exploration of the Somali pirate phenomenon.
The film throws the viewer, through audio recordings and found video, right into the middle of the real-life hostage negotiation of a Danish shipping vessel, the CEC Future. As the haggling between the ship's stoic owner Per Gullestrup, and the pirate's loquacious negotiator, Ishmael Ali, drags on for 70 days, these two adversaries' relationship takes an unexpected turn and an unlikely friendship is born.
Stolen Seas is an eye opening refutation of preconceived ideas on how or why piracy has become the world's most frightening multi-million dollar growth industry.

The Righteousness, Grace, and Love of God in the Face of Certain Judgment

    in Religion

    Sunday Evening Evangelistic Message #92

    TEXT: Genesis 18:16-33

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to negotiate with God? In the ancient middle east, when a man went to a merchant to buy something that he wanted, such as a horse, or some tools, he did not go to the merchant expecting a price tag on the item he wanted to buy. Instead, he would ask the merchant for his price, which normally would be very high, and then, the buyer would say he was only willing to pay a price that was very low. At that point, the merchant would lower his price little by little, and the buyer would raise his price little by little until they finally agreed on a price fixed somewhere in the middle. This process called "negotiation" or "bargaining" or "haggling" still happens today. God has blessed me in my young life to give four cars away. However, one time I tried to sell a car and I asked for my high price, and he told me that he did not want to hurt my feelings. So I knew that I was not a good negotiator.

Our passage today tells us about a man named Abraham who carried on a similar process with God. However, Abraham was negotiating with God for something far more valuable than any material product. He was negotiating with God for human souls if you will.

Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In - Part I

    in Legal

Hello folks, and thank you once again for joining me at the ADR-NOW! Internet Radio Webinar.  I am your host, Anthony Johnson.
In this episode, we will talk about how to negotiate with your debt collector without giving in.  The method of negotiation we will talk about was developed by the Harvard Negotiation Project and its aim is to decide issues on their merits rather than through a haggling process focused on each side it says it will and won't do.  This is called "principled negotiation" and suggests that you look for mutual gains whenever possible, and that where your interests conflict, you should insist that that the result be based on some fair standards independent of the will of the other side.
This will be an exciting series of episodes and you don't want to miss them as the methods can make or break your resolution with a debt collector or original creditor in efforts to delete derogatory trade items and restore your good name.
Give us a call at A. Johnson & Associates, LLC, 888-502-0586 for more information or visit www.adr-now.com.
