The Eucharistic miracle of Daroca was verified shortly before one of the numerous battles sustained by the Spanish against the Moors. The Christian commanders asked the priest in the field to celebrate Mass, but a few minutes after the consecration, an improvised enemy attack obliged the priest to suspend the Mass and hide the consecrated Hosts amid the sacred linens of the celebration. The Spanish left the battle victorious and the commanders asked the priest to communicate the Hosts previously consecrated. However, they were found completely covered in Blood. Even today, it is possible to venerate the Blood-stained linens.
In 1239, the Christian cities of Daroca, Teruel and Calatayud (in Aragon) allied themselves to reconquer the walls of the castle of Chio Luchente. Before the first battle, the chaplain, Don Mateo Martínez of Daroca, celebrated the Holy Mass, during which he consecrated six Hosts designated for Communion for the six captains who led the troops: Don Jiménez Pérez, Don Fernando Sánchez, Don Pedro, Don Raimundo, Don Guillermo and Don Simone Carroz.
An improvised attack of the enemy obliged the chaplain to immediately suspend the Mass, and coil the six consecrated Hosts in the corporal and to hide them under a rock. The enemy troops had been forced back and the commanders begged the priest to permit them to receive Holy Communion in thanksgiving for the obtained victory. Don Mateo brought them to the place where he had hidden the corporal and they found the Hosts drenched in Blood.
Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Super Bantamweight king Guillermo Rigondeaux was back in the ring for the first time this year in what was initially and correctly recognised as a mismatch against little known Thai fighter Sod Kokietgym.
Rigondeaux has been a victim of his own greatness, a fighter who rightfullystated earlier in the week that he doesn’t make mistakes but after being booed for being “too defensive” in the past, had promised to fight more aggressive in this one and he kept his word, landing a flush left hand just ten seconds into the round. We will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. Already in 2015, it's been a little easier to stay optimistic about the future of boxing may bring. Since last week's show, there have been announcements about boxing's return to network television via Al Haymon, the US picked up a heavyweight belt-holder for the first time in years in Deontay Wilder, on an entertaining first big TV card of the year, and while the schedule isn't densely packed, there's enough going on to keep us occupied. This week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Patrick Connor of The Queensberry Rules welcome Brin-Jonathan Butler back to the show to discuss recent happenings in the sport, the upcoming schedule and much more. Specifically previewed will be this weekend's HBO rubbermatch between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado. Thanks for tuning in!

Guillermo Rigondeaux returns this weekend live from Macao, China when he defends his 122 lb. championship against Sod Kokietgym, on the under card of another fight headlined by Zou Shiming in China. Now while Shiming and Gilberto Ramirez will have their fights televised on HBO 2 in the afternoon, Rigondeaux’s fight will be played on tape delay on UNIMAS late in the evening.
There’s no denying Rigondeaux’s talents and his status as one of the best pound for pound technicians in the sport of boxing. But to many boxing fans and to HBO executives, it’s a style that turns off many and in essence a reason why Rigondeaux has been relegated to fighting on UNIMAS, instead of HBO.We will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. Dusty Hernandez-Harrison is doing something Peter Quillin, Deontay Wilder, Keith Thurman, and Guillermo Rigondeaux is not, accepting a Roc Nation offer and headlining their first card this Friday in New York inside The MSG Theatre. In fact, Hernandez-Harrison is the 1st official boxer to sign with the promotional entity headed by Jay-Z and ran by David Iskowitz, former Golden Boy Promotions COO.
Hernandez-Harrison said it just felt like the right thing to do
“It was good, we met with them,” stated Hernandez-Harrison. They had the idea of the fight first on January 9th. The plans were everything that we wanted to hear. They worked with us on what we wanted and we connected with the people there, David Iskowitz, Michael Yomark, they treated us right.”
While Wilder, Quillin, and Thurman have the security of Al Haymon in their back pocket, Hernandez-Harrison feels the same with Jay-Z and company behind him especially because of their track record out of boxing and because he feels they have something to prove. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin took on Marco Antonio Rubio Saturday night and the Stub Hub Center in Carson California and it was business as usual for Golovkin.
The Kazakh knockout machine extended his consecutive KO streak to 18 stopping Rubio in the second round. Golovkin was simply too much for Rubio from the opening bell. In the first round Golovkin was already landing power punches that had tremendous effect on Rubio.
Many boxing fans were perhaps rightly more excited for the co-feature in the Barclay’s Center Saturday night than they were for the “Triple G” mismatch that followed, as the established Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) went up against the hungry up-and-coming star, Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs).
Although this fight was looked upon as a 50/50 fight, there were still many who picked Donaire, feeling that Walter”s record was somewhat padded and because he had never gone a full twelve rounds, that he would be exposed by the experienced and durable Filipino. On the flip-side however, there were of course question marks surrounding the 31-year old Donaire. How much did he really have left? He hadn’t looked the same since being badly defeated on points last April by the great Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux. There were rumors that he had been getting beaten beaten up in sparring.
