Losing a loved-one is a painful and emotional experience. There is no definitive time line for grief as everyone grieves differently. Tune in as I discuss the path from grieving to healing withAnne J. Koller.
After losing her beloved father to a sudden heart attack, Anne embarked on a journely to understand and visualize the deepest emotions of grief and founded The Ashes Project.
The Ashes Project serves as a platform for a broader discussion on loss, life's only certainty and how we heal. Anne is currently developing TAPIN, an immersive, interactive exhibit where you choose the emotional journey you explore and how you interact when you are at the center of your emotions. TAPIN aims to expose emotions once and for all and sheds light on what they are here to teach us.

I did not want to pre-record a show so I decided to change the time. It is an UPDATE on my personal grieving and healing process after the crossover of my dear sister-in-law, Deb and my loving brother, Ter.
It has been almost 6 months since Deb's departure and 4 months since Ter's departure. A lot has gone on and I would welcome the opportunity to catch up with you.
Melody Beattie is one of America’s most beloved self-help authors and a household name in addiction and recovery circles. Her international bestselling book, Codependent No More, introduced the world to the term codependency in 1986. Millions of readers have trusted Melody’s words of wisdom and guidance because she knows firsthand what they’re going through. Melody will be back at WEBE Radio sharing her experience and discussing the Addiction – Trauma Dynamic. She’ll discuss her belief that unresolved trauma and grief are key components to the disease of addiction and how we may now be able to lead more people to a “recovery of” instead of a “recovery from” process. Her 25-year writing career has produced fifteen books published in twenty languages and hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles. She has been a frequent guest on many national television shows, including Oprah. Her books continue to be featured regularly in national publications including Time, People, and most major periodicals around the world.

Thsi week's conversation will be about the psychology of grief.
What makes understanding a grief experience different from other experiences? Why does the way we approach and move through grief seem counterintuitive?
What is the ultimate "paradox" of grief?
in Self Help
There are different ways of expressing grief. In her ground breaking work, Eleanor describes the act of providing care to chronically ill family members as an expression of grief. Eleanor took the styles of instrumental and intuitive grieving originally devised for death related circumstances and applied them into the caregiving experience, especially in dealing with progressive and chronic conditions.
In this episode, Dr. Ken Doka, a leading expert in thanatology and grief counseling is Eleanor's guest, speaking about the instrumental style of grieving that he was involved in developing and writing about as co-author of the (2000) book Men Don't Cry, Women Do: Transcending Gender Stereotypes of Grief and then the (revised 2010) book Grieving Beyond Gender: Understanding the Ways Men and Women Mourn .
Eleanor applied these styles and other grief models intended for death related circumstances to family caregivers in her 2007 article Introducing the 3-A Grief Intervention Model for Dementia Caregivers:: Acknowledge, Assess, Assist.
