Breaking the Chains....10,000 Strong and Counting

    in Motivation

    I have a dream...Celebrating Our Jubilee!

Our forefathers and mothers planted trees from which we gather fruit, and dug wells from which we quench our thirst. Civil Rights Activist marched for us, died for us and pleaded for our equality.

So what are we leaving behind for our communities today? What are we fostering in the minds of our Black children? How will we strengthen our families and our communities? How are we Leading Change?

Just over fifty years ago, Dr. King's "I Have a Dream..." Speech debuted in Detroit and transformed a nation. Today, we are uniting to become a beacon of light and love to usher in greater transformation within our capacity to love that will impact this city. As Detroit goes, so does the nation.

Grass roots organizations, churches and community business groups are raising the bar on what's possible so we evolve in our beliefs, values and purpose for the elevation of our consciousness to enlarge what's possible for us as spirits in human form. We are encouraging each one to search their hearts and find their destiny so they can powerfully play a role in Detroit's Re-birth that causes the world to know that Love is the Power that uplifts us all and brings balance.

Today, we are sharing more on the Power of Collective Collaboration.  We are inviting women from the Detroit Metropolitan area to join us on Sunday, Oct 11th at 3pm to celebrate ourselves and our collective power so this community takes notice of our presence, and respect our requests for better schools, safer streets, equal pay, clean air, and the many causes that we all represent.

Can you imagaine having 10,000 women answering the call to support your cause to create change? This is why we are gathering. We are not a protest, a march or a rally. We are a GATHERING to collective support each other.

We are powerful, and together we rise!

    the Family Meeting

    in Self Help

Tuesday, on "The Family Meeting" I'm "coming out" about my MIA. There is  a difference between depression and feeling sad. In the African American  community there is stigma that it is a "weakness" so the rate of suicide amongst the men is greater than other ethnicities. Children get depressed too. Parents might dismiss their child being sad and in actuality they are depressed. Just because you can't see it, it doesn't mean it hurts.

    "Reaching For Words (Foward)"

    in Self Help

Words have power. Power to uplift or defeat, which is the fundamental ideology each Toastmaster understands and beliefs. Therefore from the moment we decide to attend a meeting; then boldly step up to the podium to speak, we choose our words wisely to ensure we convey a message of empowerment. This allows each member to become effective communicators and leaders, the mission of Toastmasters. A mission our upcoming guest Toastmaster Ron Champman understands. Ron is committed to helping those with aspirations of “Stretching one’s speaking skills,” through mentorship and coaching. Ron, who will be our keynote speaker Friday, November 13, 2015 at District 44's 2015 Fall Conference, will sit down with us and share his outlook on what it takes to become the best Toastmaster you can be.

    Why not the SEC?

    in Football

Maybe the SEC is the best conference in football. Or maybe we're just overlooking the really bad teams because the really good teams are REALLY good.

What about the Big 12? Are they actually good, or is Baylor's offense just overshadowing how bad their defense is?

UCLA lost to Arizona State (great prediction, Nathaniel), so the Pac 12 took a step back. Is it still an elite conference?

What about the ACC? Why is nobody giving Clemson or Florida State any love?

Oh my goodness what's happening with Texas?

What ON EARTH happened in Champaign, Illinois Saturday?

We won't forget you, NFL. Oh, no. Not with Kansas City kicking SEVEN field goals and losing by two touchdowns or Dallas picking up players from the hospital to play for them.

Great job Bears and Saints. You now have a win! Not so great job Tampa Bay. You're still REALLY bad.

Join us tonight! Make sure to call in!
