Good Manners: Are They Necessary Today?

    in Self Help

Most of us had mothers who told us it was important to have good manners. But is that true in the world today? Our society is experiencing drastic changes and it seems, in many cases, manners are falling by the wayside.

Does this have an effect on our success? Is there still a code of prescribed rules of behavior for specific situations at given times? Do people who practice these rules have more success than those who don't? Are men experiencing more stress today than women because of the changing expectations of the rules of etiquette?

Join Choices host, Judi Moreo, author of You Are More Than Enough, as she explores our behaviors and the part they play in the impression we make on others. Learn the ins and outs of proper etiquette in today's complex world.

Dr. Vladas Griskevicius: How to make wiser choices by using Deep Rationality

    in Psychology

Amy Alkon's Advice Goddess Radio: "Nerd Your Way To A Better Life!" with the best brains in science.

("Best Of" replay.) Decisions that we make that seem stupid can actually make a lot of evolutionary sense, meaning that they would have made sense in the ancestral world; they just don’t make sense in the world in which we now live.

Unfortunately, we can’t just tell our genes, “Hey, it’s 2013! There are no hungry tigers roaming the streets of Baltimore and, by the way, my girlfriend’s on The Pill.”

But, my guest tonight, evolutionary psychologist, psychologist and marketing professor Dr. Vladas Griskevicius, is going to give us the background to make wiser choices by helping us understand the ways we can be primed to act against our modern interests.

His fascinating book, co-authored with Dr. Douglas Kenrick, is “The Rational Animal: How Evolution Made Us Smarter Than We Think.”

Join me and all my fascinating guests every Sunday, 7-8 p.m. Pacific Time, 10-11 p.m. Eastern Time, at blogtalkradio.com/amyalkon or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.

  • THE GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM OF YESHUA Part 5

    in Religion

On this show which is the 5th segment of a 10 part series we will talk about: The Promise of a Coming Kingdom of Yeshua!

As we find written in the Bible:

"Behold the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto the throne of David a righteous branch (YESHUA), and a King (YEHSUA) shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgement and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OF OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS! Jer. 23: 5-6

And again we find a similar Scripture in the book of Isaiah, Chapter 9: verses 6-7:

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and His name shall be called: WONDERFUL, COUNSELLER, THE MIGHTY EL SHADDAI, THE EVERSLATING FATHER, THE PRINCE OF PEACE. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perfom this!

My friends the kingdom of YESHUA is a "soon coming" kingdom and we need to be prepared!

We have seen that Jesus Christ and the apostles preached the gospel—the good news—of the Kingdom of God. But exactly what is that Kingdom?

On this program we will examine in depth more of what reaslly is THE KINGDOM OF YESHUA!

Plumb Gratitude's Depth: Discover Its Power to Do Good & Soar your Life!

    in Spirituality

Spiritually speaking, there are 3 core qualities inherent that make gratitude what it is. How familiar are you with these aspects? As a natural flow from our Divine Heritage as Christos... gratitude is a holy trinity in action influencing all we 'think, say, do'.

Further, it is freely and generously shared as well as digested because, our Spirit knows how this is our daily nourishement while sojourning in a virtual world of separation from SOURCE.

Gratitude is a reminder and 'wink back' to SOURCE, so to speak. It is our W-holy recognition of our inherency of Oneness and its awesome beauty to behold. It is one of Love's many facets of expression and experience.

Let's celebrate and deepen our perceptions and persepective of gratitude as we gently move our beings into a Christmas Spirit approrpriately one of gratitude.
