Join us for HIV/AIDS discussion bringing awareness to the community. Historically, the HIV/AIDS epidemic has affected more men than women. However, if new HIV infections continue at their current rate worldwide, women with HIV may soon outnumber men with HIV. HIV infection impacts a growing number of women in Illinois each year. Nearly 7,000 women in Illinois are currently known to be living with HIV and/or AIDS. Many hundreds of other women are probably living with HIV even though they are unaware of their own infection. HIV/AIDS disproportionately impacts African-American women in Illinois and the United States. Nationally, HIV infection is the leading cause of death for African-American women between the ages of 25 and 34. In Illinois, the number of HIV cases among African-American women continues to climb. Roughly 68 percent of Illinois women living with HIV are African American, while African Americans only make up 15 percent of the Illinois population. Caucasian women account for 16 percent of Illinois women living with HIV, while the Caucasian population represents more than 73 percent of Illinois residents. Latina women represent roughly 11 percent of the HIV/AIDS cases in women, while 13 percent of the Illinois population is Latino. Roughly 4 percent of women with HIV are from Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander and other communities. Women in their 30s are the most likely to be living with HIV/AIDS, and almost all Illinois women living with HIV are between the ages of 20 and 50.
SHE was hailed as the “mother of the year” after being filmed slapping her son and dragging him home from the Baltimore riots, but now Toya Graham has become embroiled in a particularly American row about race.
The single mother became a sensation after a local news channel captured her confronting her son Michael, 16, as violence flared on Monday. After spotting the teenager wearing a hoodie and mask amid rock-throwing protesters, Graham, 42, ran over to challenge him. “Are you for real?” she screamed at him. ” Really? This is what you want to do?
The Baltimore mother's reaction was understandable and maybe even reasonable given the highly charged circumstances. She told CBS News that her intention was to protect her son. It seems that she did what she thought she had to do to remove her son from a very dangerous riot. But in the process, she slapped, hit, cursed and shouted at him to "Get the f--- over here" and "take that mother f-----g mask off!"
Now, she is under fire for hitting and cursing at her son. Was this a form of LOVE or abuse?
What to YOU think? We want to hear from YOU...
Tune in, this coversation will be intriguing.
Last year Cara Prior & her husband Scott Prior ran to represent their Legislative District 16 (Arizona House & Arizona Senate, respectively). In a difficult year for Democrats across the nation, Cara and Scott came up short on winning their seats in the legislature. If you ask many politicians, though, persistence pays off in politics for the hard-working & determined representatives of the people. Cara and Scott have again declared for the offices they sought last year.
Tune in to hear from these progressive champions as they launch their 2016 campaigns for House & Senate in Arizona Legislative District 16 out of Apache Junction, Arizona. The Priors are champions for the working and middle classes, animals, the environment, fair trade, the LBGT community, net neutrality and many other progressive causes. They are co-hosts of the show "Progressive Voices of AZ" on Fridays.
On a recent edition of "Progressive Voices of AZ," Cara and Scott hosted Arizona activist Yolanda Bejarano on stopping the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Fast Track option of said "free trade agreement" with Asian countries. As Ms. Bejarano will reveal, previous free trade agreements approved by the United States have been disasters for American job creation and have hurt America's workers, as well as the economy of the United States.
With progressive champions like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders in the U.S. Senate on her side, Ms. Bejarano joins The Social Spitball Show to get the rest of us on board to stopping the TPP and its Fast Track. Tune in and find out how you can help in this very important (and historic) effort!!
Barbara Dee & Bram Sarkowski are ready to "Put PROGRESS in Progressive" as we hear from these three progressive champions!!
Let's get the conversation going...

Slapping your child should not earn a mother of the year award but a Mother’s day card perhaps……
What is the reason for celebrating the Baltimore mother who is seen publicly disciplining her 16 year old son is has this type of parental behavior become a thing of the past?
Do you know of any mothers who would have responded in the same manner as Toya Graham?
With such positive reaction by many media outlets as to the appropriateness of this mother's reaction what message are we sending to parents about methods of discipline?

Join me and my special guess Medium, Priest of Oshun, father, Babalorisa Rivelinho Bolivar.
Rive, as he is called by his friends was born in 1978 in Panama City, Panama and grew up in the countryside along the Caribbean coastline in the small town of Salud, in a Catholic family
He was an altar/choir boy and continued my involvement with church service after moving to the US until the age of 16. I've always had a sensitivity to the spiritual world – seeing shadows, hearing voices, able to tune into the vibrations of the homes of others as a child, never being bothered by my ability to sense things. Working with the church also exposed him to the Lucumí pantheon, that also plays an important role in my life in hand with my spiritualist practice, as I observed the holy days of saints which had been syncretized with the Yoruba orishas.
Philippians 2:5-11 (NASB) says -
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus
Who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
It is mind boggling that our Lord was so humble, that He came to earth as a man, and made Himself of no reputation. Jesus didn’t flaunt the fact that He was God, or equal to God. The Lord’s reputation meant nothing. Basically the Lord humbly chose to lay aside His rank and dignity to come into our world.
Our humble Lord is highly exalted and He has promised that those who humble themselves before Him, and believe in Him will also be exalted and lifted up to rule and reign with Him. Let us put off pride so we can see the Lord Jesus.
Please join us for the study of God's word.
