5 Tips To Writing A Children's Book: Meet Princess Cupcake Jones Creator

    in Women

Do you have what it takes to write a children's book? Our guest this week is author Ylleya Fields, creator of  three books from the Princess Cupcake Jones series.  Cupcake Jones is a modern day princess, who like many girls, loves her tutu and playing with her toys. Each book tells its own unique story, while at the same time, teaching children valuable lessons that parents will appreciate, all in a gentle, rhyming cadence that children will enjoy. The first book teaches the importance of tiding up, the second teaches the importance of going to school, and the newest book teaches the importance of creating memories and not rushing through life.

Ylleya Fields has three daughters and a son. While looking for books to read to her eldest daughter (when she was 2), Ylleya was struck by the limited number of titles featuring African American characters. Blending both of her daughter's images and personalities together, the Cupcake Jones series was created, with more additions to add to the series.

Get your questions ready and tune in -  an inspiring show on motivating and teaching children positive images about culture, education, role models and the importance of self-esteem.

For more information or images on the series, please feel free to visit their website at www.PrincessCupcakeJones.com.

    Body Shaming

    in Spirituality

Many young girls and women have body shaming issues that cause them to great harm to their body in an attempt to fit into society's image of "beauty." The beauty industry, including pastic surgery, is a trillion dollar business that creates images of that promotes a false illusion of beauty leading women to believe that by focusing on the outward appearance, they will become more popular, happier, and accepted.

In the home, are we speaking words of love to our young girls and women or are we promoting the same negativity? Beauty can only be defined by self-love and every woman defines beauty in her own image. Join us tonight as we discuss this issue of "Body Shaming" and how to keep our youjng girls away from it and hel out women to heal from it. Join us in the chat room or call in live to share your story with us!

power of perception writers with Tina Panariello

    in Spirituality

New York Daily News said: “Life She’s Nailed It”. Tina Panariello says “I Just Did It”. No matter how she is described Tina Panariello is one gutsy woman. She was born and raised until she was 11 years old on the lower East side of Manhattan and was forced to move to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. As most little girls, she was a daydreamer. She dreamed of becoming a dancer, a beautician, and believe it or not, even a surgeon. Moving to Brooklyn was a big transformation that prepared her for what was yet to come.

Prior to owning Nail Artistry by Tina, she owned an in-home jewelry business and always dressed up her nails with beautiful polish designs which she offered all the hostesses, as a gift, for giving her a jewelry party. Tina expanded on that and with two clients, one nipper, one file and three bottles of polish started doing nails house to house, and in her home for two days, always dreaming of one day having her own salon.

Several years later, with monetary help from her parents, her brother Andrew, uncle Richie, and then boyfriend Frank helped her, from scratch, put her dream salon together. Tina, drew up the blueprints, and decorated the entire salon by herself. She is a self-taught nail technician. There were no nail schools at the time, but ten years of learning and attending many beauty shows, with certifications under her belt from being an educator for OPI, she was grandfathered and received her license.

Tina Panareillo, is semi-retired, and still the owner of Nail Artistry by Tina for 32 years, and a nail technician/artist/actor/educator/author, Polished: filing away at life’s truths, motivational speaker, and is an accomplished miniature nail artist.

She is a first and second place World and International Nail Art Champion, adding many other nail art awards. Panariello

The Show Must Go On With SR Rabbit!

    in Entertainment

As I struggled through the weekend with my cold, I feared I would cancel my Monday segment. We know how that phrase goes, though. "The show must go on." The phrase has passed through generations of theaters, both stage and film, TV shows, school, and -- well, you get the idea.

I know it's Dancing Monday. Be sure to have your tennis shoes and a water bottle. This will be a short segment, though, as I am trying to bite off this cold. Yikes!
