Gus Venegas was born in 1952 a few months before after a Bautista's coup that ended fifty years of democracy and civil liberties in Cuba. Nearly all of Gus' kin supported a Revolution that supported a return of the Republic. The Venegas family witnessed the transformation of the Cuban Revolution into the Western Hemisphere's most oppressive political, economic, and cultural dictatorship. They left Cuba in 1966 when Castro and President Johnson agreed to a legal and orderly departure of Cuban exiles.
Venegas is the author of Memories from the Land of the Intolerant Tyrant. Venegas says this book which details life under Castro, is his vegeance. "The truth is our vengeance".

Salme is an electro pop dance music artist, also known as the licensing queen because of her ability to license all of her songs for media use. She is a one-woman dynamo on the razor’s edge of mass appeal with radio ready songs like "Superstar Car Crash" and tracks like "C'Mon Y'All" that are good sound and good fun. With songs on the Billboard Dance Chart and the Global Dance TraxTop 100, she never stops. This summer alone she has released a new single, a new video and a new album. And we will play samples from all of them when we talk with her Friday August 1.
Icelandic author/songwriter/composer and former journalist Ívar Páll Jónsson is the genius behind Revolution in the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson, Furniture Painter. Author of the book, lyrics and music, Ívar has been writing music since the age of 15, perfecting his craft by writing thousands of songs in his career, most of them unpublished. His ambitious new concept album just released with guest appearances by renowned songster Liam McCormick (The Family Crest) and an all-star lineup of Iceland's top singers, entitled Revolution in the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson Furniture Painter. It's also the score for an off-Broadway theater production featuring former Miss America Kate Shindle and Tony winner Cady Huffman. A homage to the grandeur of classic rock at its most epic with influences including Radiohead, Grizzly Bear, and Sufjan Stevens, the album weaves a tale of love, war, and brotherhood that that all takes place within the microcosm of an oblivious man’s elbow.
This is a black arts and culture site. We will be exploring the African Diaspora via the writing, performance, both musical and theatrical (film and stage), as well as the visual arts of Africans in the Diaspora and those influenced by these aesthetic forms of expression. I am interested in the political and social ramifications of art on society, specifically movements supported by these artists and their forebearers. It is my claim that the artists are the true revolutionaries, their work honest and filled with raw unedited passion. They are our true heroes. Ashay!
This week's guest is Dr. Jim Garrow.
We will be discussing Obama's Immigration Invasion & Border Crisis and much more. Dr. Garrow, author of "The Pink Pagoda: One Man's Quest to End Gendercide in China" was a 2009 Nobel Peace Prize nominee for his fight against the war on females in China. Garrow exposed the murders of Tom Clancy, Andrew Breitbart and Michael Hastings, who were collaborating on a novel to expose who Barack Obama really is and who he works for.

This documentary gives a different look at Marilyn Monroe from inside her head using notes and letters that she generated juxtaposed with the actions and assertions of those around her. Whether you see Marilyn Monroe as troubled, a sexpot, tragic, lost, or a bubbleheaded blond you are sure to be enlightened with this kaleidoscope of well-interpreted readings of her words by brilliant actors.
I have always believed Ms. Monroe's story was slightly tragic from a psychological perspective, but her life was much more complex. She was so much more intelligent and strategic than she has often been credited. She was like all of us who want to achieve some major mark in life, to be loved and respected, while haveing someone we can trust with our deepest thoughts, desires and life. She is an absolute representative of all of us when we are betrayed, let down, belittled, and ignored when the world refused to see past some physical representation of our true selves. Whether we are outside the average height, weight, build, and appearance of some kind. We are all more than our "meatsuits," and Marilyn Monroe went above and beyond her celebrity she gave us the opportunity to look inside ourselves and accept our incredible self-worth, no matter who we are.
