    St. Gerard Majella

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

St. Gerard Majella is the patron of expectant mothers. He was born in 1726 in Muro, Italy to a family of seven. Majella grew up in a poverty with a great respect for the poor. Shortly after his father's death, his mother sent him away to live with his uncle and learn to become a tailor, like his father.

Majella began earning money as a journeyman at the age of 21, splitting his earnings with his mother, and the poor of Muro. In 1749, at the age of 23, he joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer and just three years later became a professed lay brother.

Majella lived with the three vows of Poverty, Chasity and Obedience. He stayed close with the poor and worked very many different jobs. He served as sacristan, gardener, porter, infirmarian, and tailor. However, because of his great piety, extraordinary wisdom, and his gift of reading consciences, he was permitted to counsel communities of religious women.

Throughout his years of life, several reported miracles are tied to Majella. including, restoring a boy's life after he fell from a high cliff; blessing a poor farmer's crops, ridding it of mice; blessing a poor family's supply of wheat, causing it to last until the next harvest; and he multiplied bread for the poor on several occasions.

Along with his miracles effected through prayers for woman in labor, Majella's last recorded miracle is one that many credit toward his becoming the patron of expectant mothers.

Due to the numerous miracles performed through Majella's prayers, proceedings for his canonization began shortly after his death. In 1893, Majella was beatified by Pope Leo XIII and on December 11, 1904, Pope Pius X canonized the man of God.

Are you Xenophobic? Paris was it a bad assassination attempt? Pause refugees!

    in Politics

Hr1   When Democrat Senator Diane Feinstein and MSNBC newscasters go against the President, you KNOW we have a problem. Talking Syrian refugees and ISIL.

Sec. of State John Kerry says the Charlie Hebdo attack was because we aggravated the situation. Are you kidding me?

Muslim refugees are now going on a hunger strike because their "new" host countries aren't giving them enough money. You can't make this stuff up!

College kids are trying to take down another school president. This time at Occidental College. If they don't like the administration, go to another school! No one is forcing them to go to a specific college.

hr2   Jenner awarded Glamour Magazine Woman of the Year. One writer says: “Glamour endorses the idea that men are better at being women than we are.”  Previous year recipient's husband sends her award back!

Did you know ISIS has a help line for would-be jihadists?

    Man gets face transplant. Ouch!

And another college tries to oust their president... Oxy United for Black Liberation at Occidental College lists 14 demands including a call for the “immediate” resignation the school’s president.

Hr 3    The fact that we're concerned about Muslim extremists slipping in with actual refugees is a serious concern. That doesn't make us xenophobic, as some would claim.

The Center for Immigration Studies says it will cost 12x more to resettle a refugee to the US than it would for a neighboring Middle Eastern country. Make sense to you? Geez...

Dr. Gerard Lameiro suggests that the attacks in Paris were not just a terrorist attack against helpless citizens, but a coordinated attack meant to assassinate French President Hollande.

Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?

Gerard Lameiro--Is Trump The One? #2765

    in Finance

Gerard Lameiro came back on with us today. Seems like he too has caught Trump Fever. He sees 2016 as a truly pivotal election that will change the parties as well as the country. Such elections have occurred in the past, such as the election of 1896, which brought us a century of progressivism. Whether the Donald wins or not, the system will be forever altered.

  • Wondering Why Sylvia Stein Is Chasing Clarity?

    in Writing

"I began the journey if this book in 2013 for the National Novel Month but the idea for this book began in July of this same year. It is amazing how one character from a show can impact so much of my life and it did when I awoke to the tragic news of his death.   It was something so profound and for me it felt like losing a part of my family."

"I thought about the pain and hurt it caused those he loved and this is when Chasing Clarity was born. However I did not want to write his story. It was more about bringing the theme of love and loss and how my main character Mia will try to overcome the tragic obstacles and be able to find a purpose and pursue on her dreams.  I went ahead an researched the five stages of grief and incorporated this into the novel.  I know friends who are like family that have been through this type of pain and my hope is that Mia’s story will help in the healing process of their own hearts." ~ Sylvia Stein

What happens when you lose the person most important to you and are left to pick up the pieces?

Mia Gerard had always wanted to be a trained dancer yet she has just lost the love of her life in a tragic accident. Leo Dancy was her best friend and soul mate. As she tries to deal with losing him, she finds his absence unbearable and she feels lost without him.

But then a great opportunity arises for Mia that she just can’t turn down. She is accepted into the New York Dance Academy of performing arts. At first she is overwhelmed but once she gets there she begins to allow herself to heal.

This is when she comes across Henry Watson a painter with aspirations of acquiring his own exhibit one day. While she ponders her feelings for Henry, will she be too late? Or will she find the clarity she needs and chase after him?
