GHOSTS AND SHADOWS OF ANDERSONVILLE
Bernice Bennett host welcomes Robert Scott Davis for a discussion of how slaves helped to liberate imprisoned Union soldiers from behind the Confederate lines. He will also share his new project on the lost history of the international significance of free blacks in slave Georgia.
Robert Scott Davis is senior professor of History at Wallace State College in Hanceville, Alabama. He runs a program of continuing education classes in genealogy. His more than 1,000 publications include GHOSTS AND SHADOWS OF ANDERSONVILLE, a book that explores mysteries of the Confederate prison for black, red, and white inmates.
He is currently working on biographical essays on free African Americans in Georgia from colonial times to final emancipation in the 1860s including Fenda Lawrence, George Liele, Austin Dabney, Joseph Nunez, Thomas Sims, and Hubbard Prior.
The veil between the physical and the spiritual world is beginning to thin, as it does every year at this time. You may notice more spirit activity such as a flash of light, seeing something out of the corner of your eye, or feeling as if there is someone with you.
Your angels, ghosts and guides all are different types of spirit and will feel, sound or look different. How can you be sure which is communicating with you?
Join hosts Linda Rez and William Pollard (Wild 4 Washington Wine) for a conversation with the Gilles Nicault, Director of Winemaking for Long Shadows Vintners, a winery that brings together the Rock Stars of winemaking for all the major worldwide wine regions. He is also the winemaker for Long Shadows' acclaimed Chester-Kidder, a Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah blend.
Gilles grew up in southern France and graduated from the University of Avignon with a degree in viticulture and enology. He honed his craft in the fabled hillside vineyards and wineries of Cotes du Rhone, Provence and Champagne. In 1994, already a vintner of rising fame in his homeland, Gilles traveled to Washington State to expand his winemaking.
Impressed by Washington State's vineyards, he stayed in the Columbia Valley, working for Staton Hills and Hogue Cellars before joining Woodward Canyon in 1996, where he stayed until moving to Long Shadows in June 2003. Sharing Woodward Canyon's passion for world-class wines, Gilles soon found Woodward Canyon's founder Rick Small was his ideal mentor and biggest champion. In 1999, Woodward Canyon named Gilles head of enology and production.
Gilles is married to French-born winemaker Marie-Eve Gilla of Forgeron Cellars, an upcoming guest on the Wine Muse show, "The Rise, Fall, and Rise of Chardonnay".

Join MMC, with special co-host Justin Gerald, this Sunday as we speak to PEDRO Paranormal. The team will cover their investigations, personal experiences, maybe some EVPs, their Ghost Hunting 101 classes, and much more! Justin has news of the demise of Shadow Chasers Investigations.
The Paranormal Encounter Documentation Research Organization (P.E.D.R.O) was founded in 2003 by Janet Reed and Joe Kline. Other members include Steve, William, Frank, Fred, and our newest addition Wendy. We also partner with other teams to promote unity and discourage the old territorial nature that a lot of teams used to adhere to.
The purpose of our group is to seek out paranormal activities wherever they might be and document them with an unbiased eye. The P.E.D.R.O. team also works diligently to promote preservation, tourism, and community service. We also assist local organizations in their efforts to promote and preserve historic sites.
P.E.D.R.O. prides ourselves on history. After four years of research and investigations we published the book Excelsior Springs Haunted Haven This book tells of the paranormal happening of this town and also the history behind them. The SyFy network show “Ghost Hunters” used the book as the basis of two episodes in their 2012 season.
The P.E.D.R.O. team differentiates itself by being a very open investigation team. We do many public events such as open investigations, educational lectures, and radio shows. You can follow the team at www.facebook.com/pedroparanormal to keep up on our future events.
So please join us! Listen on your computer or phone, post questions in the chatroom, or even call in.

Join us tonight as we speak with Gregg Clark of "Where Shadows Walk" tours of Franklin, North Carolina.. You can visit his website at whereshadowswalk.com..
“Ghost tours can be rich and insightful, but they can be absolutely hokey,” explained Clark, whose mix of academic specificity, down-to-earth look and flair for weaving authoritative, captivating yarns, is anything but hokey. “We want everyone to know that this is not silly. These are so real, and the stories are grisly. Some of them are horrific and horrifying, but they’re real, and they represent chapters in the life of this town. They’re rich; they’re gritty; they’re real.”
The real-life history of Macon County, said Clark, is a sometimes ghastly, always intriguing tapestry of narratives that doesn’t need embellishing as much as it needs uncovering. So while Clark and his wife, Pauletta, may be the ones unearthing the past, they’re really just helping the past speak for itself.
For the Clarks, both teachers, what they do now is just an extension of a long-held love of history and a desire to fill a niche they’ve long lamented was empty.
Clark is a Macon County native who yearned for local history that he wasn’t getting in school.
