Mood swings, fatigue, problems with sleeping at night and focusing during the day, weight gain…the list goes on. Many of us dismiss the symptoms as the result of stressful lifestyles or perhaps just getting older. But, is your body sending you an urgent message? Could your thyroid be malfunctioning? Joining us to discuss what these signals could mean is Dr. Jeffrey Garber, speaking on behalf of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and Ronni Hochman, who suffers from hypothyroidism and is a patient of Dr. Garber.
It’s tax time – and the question as you fill out your income taxes – are you keeping as much money in your pocket possible? A new United Way survey shows that a number of working Americans don’t realize the tax credits they’ve earned. And 70 percent are unaware they qualify for free tax preparation services. Joining us to explain it is U.S. President of United Way Worldwide, Stacey Stewart.
Moving forward while preserving trust. While we have been getting older, sixty-two people accumulated as much wealth as 1/2 the population of Earth. History tells us that imbalances like this are always resolved under attack. Roman outlawed hubris. It was wrong minded and provocative to lord riches and rank above citizens. They eventually repealed that law, an fell into moral, economic and military decline. Once again, wealth has become a symbol of greed. Men who have nothing, when they loose hope are a danger. Children are starving, dying. The diaspora in the millions are heading to the west. Agri-business has replaced the family farm but wealth has been there to buy up acreage for estate living. I believe freemasonry has enough resiliency to weather this instability but what comes of this new age reformation will be changed. We still trade on genius and celebrity, pleased having some curb appeal knowing thousands and thousands of contributions and acts of kindness eventually come together to define nations as they define us. We have never wanted to compete with cultural power. We share an unassailable belief in the goodness of mankind, helping the misfortunate and dedication to the advancement of humanity through arts & science; the two fascinations that define humanity. We modernize as we always have, as a small group of men with an honourable history and enduring moral alternative.
Next week: The Challenges
Speaking the truth to your family.
Telling your family that you were molested as a child is about the hardest part of breaking your silence. Many of us were molested by a family member who is respected and loved by most. You will begin to stack the reasons and excuses as to why you can’t or shouldn’t tell your family in your head and it sounds very reasonable in your head, but you know that it has to be done.
Breaking your silence to someone you trust is just opening the old infected wound and letting the poison out, but as adults we all know that our wound is not going to truly heal if we don’t let the doctor cut it open and clean it out completely. We are adults that were traumatized as children. We know better now. We are not little boys and girls and we have to set the example for others and show ourselves that we deserve being healthy and getting healing. We have to refuse to allow our molesters have power over us another day! You have to stop looking over your shoulder and walking on egg shells. This is what happened and it was not your fault and it is time to experience your life as it should be!
Wednesday is dedicated to survivors to call in and let us all know how they are seeking their support. How are they making the effort to find a support group, volunteer at a non-profit, researching or professional counseling? It is hard work learning how to find your healing and it takes time to learn how to live in your new life. Living in healing is something very new to survivors who have broken their silence and it takes a while to get a rhythm and security in their daily walk.
