The Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror 2013

    in Books

Tonight we will be chatting with several of the authors from The Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror 2013 : Erich Johnson, Elise L. Draper, Hydra M. Star, Isaiyan Morrison and Lindsay Beth Goddard.

The Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror is a unique anthology that focuses as much on the writer as on the stories they tell. With around ten thousand words of pure horror from each amazingly talented Lady and Gentleman, as well as in depth biographies and beautiful photos, this anthology is something you do not want to miss. The anthology comes out annually on Halloween in three print editions: The Ladies of Horror, The Gentlemen of Horror, and a combined version, The Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror. Each edition also has ebook versions. All proceeds from The Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror Anthology are donated to the American Cancer Society.

I would like to thank Jennifer Miller for her help in scheduling this episode. We also plan another episode for the release of the 2014 Edition of The Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror later this year! Sounds FANGtastic!

Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror - Poetry Night

    in Poetry

You will be treated to an evening of Horror Poetry written by two of the contributors to The Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror Anthology.

Matthew Fitzgerald - Matt was just a kid when he wrote his first story. At eight years old, he penned a tale of two brothers orchestrating a daring rescue to break their grandfather out of a hospital, where he was being held against his will. The story was a way of exploring his own need to help his grandfather, who was spending a prolonged duration in the hospital during a struggle with brain tumors. Matt had learned at a young age that books could provide adventures and absolutions otherwise unavailable to us, but couldn’t quite find the one needed for this, so he wrote it himself. It’s of some import to note that Matt is a poet first and foremost. He went to St. Michael’s College in Vermont, where he majored in English literature. While there, he also explored a love for theater and theater management, one he had built while working at the local community college theater through high school. Inspired by a more flowery script, he dove into Shakepseare, Poe, and Johnson- he is always looking for those weird abstracts that have a knack for returning the dive by staying with us, even after the story is over.

William Morrow - For the past five years, William Morrow has served his country as a soldier in the United States Army; deployed twice Afghanistan in 2009, with 3/82 AVN REGT, 82ND CAB, Ft. Bragg for six months and Kuwait/Iraq with 416TH TC, 260TH QM BN(Deactivated), Hunter Army AirField in 2010, for one year. Mr. Morrow is a veteran with two world tours under his belt and proud of his service. Getting out of the army next year and looking forward to his future. Mr. Morrow is a dark poet heavily influenced by H.P. Lovecraft and R.E. Howard.

    Chelsea Avenue blurb:

On July 8th 1987, in Long Branch, New Jersey, The Haunted House Pier and Murphy's Law club fires destroyed not only local landmarks, but everything Manny Santiago found dear.

    And it isn't over.

The entity responsible for killing Manny's family and wreaking devastation in the small seaside community has reappeared. Again. As it has every year since. And is growing in power.

Every July 8th it returns, as survivors of the fires, including Manny, are mysteriously led back to the now-vacant seaside lot on Chelsea Avenue, where the entity intends to finish what it started in 1987 once and for all.

    in Film

Show #80, This broadcast a slight stripped down version of the main airing on Friday Nights! Tonight the broadcast is about horror movies that were released in 2015 and that for reason of another, were not covered during the main Friday Night Show, and rather than rushing through them, best to give them a special show to highlight the films, directors, and stars.

This is a series of new shows - because there are over 80 movies that need discussion for the dedicated loyal fans of the horror genre!

  • Death in Service of Bill Gates

    in Politics Progressive

We as a culture from middle school through gray heads allow our vanity to slay us. We bought into the pretense that we are all brilliant, innate multitaskers. Jive!

Fact is, that is not the normal human state...not mine, nor yours. We are like Pooh, bears of very little brain.

I'll go on about that I learned as a corporate tool, a writer for business magazines and books, and an observer. Bill Gates grew up, as much as he did in fact grow up, as a lackey to his father's WWII and post-Great Depression business imaginings. Employees, from shop floor through management, are untrustworthy. If you slack off on them for a moment, they'll suck the value right from your company. They need to work long hours, very hard, forgo vacations and breaks. They beyond all else can do multiple tasks simultaneously, efficiently. Otherwise, they are stealing from you.

Come back wth me to the days of VisiCalc, that first spreadsheet. You should expect all employees to have many applications open simultaneously. They should flit from one to the next like honeybees.

    Bluster and jive!

We see it now beyond MicroSoft Office. We see bozos failing to use their cells and walk, to drive and talk into a "hands-free" phone, and on and on. Cut the crap, ladies and gentlemen.
