    Gary Green from Gentle Giant

    in Music

Gentle Giant is regarded by many as one of the world's most underrated rock bands.
From 1970 to 1980 Gentle Giant released a string of musically and lyrically adventurous albums that challenged the preconceptions of the rock genre while earning the band a rabidly loyal following. Though the band never achieved the same degree of commercial success as its progressive rock contemporaries like ELP, Yes, Genesis or Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant retains a fanatical cult-like audience almost forty years after the release of its first album.
On November 3rd Gentle Giant released 'In A Glass House', 'The Power and the Glory', 'Free Hand', 'Interview', 'Playing The Fool', 'The Missing Piece', and 'Giant For A Day' through all digital channels. The albums are re-mastered and each one features several bonus tracks from either live concerts or live radio sessions. The band promises there will be more catalog releases to come in 2010.
Guitarist Gary Green played on all of Gentle Giant's albums and tours. When the band broke up in 1980 Green re-located to America, where he played on Eddie Jobson's 'Green' album. He spent the next several decades in a succession of bands, at one point even leaving the music business entirely. In more recent years Green has resurfaced working with Billy Sherwood, most notably on 'Back Against The Wall' in 2005, and 2006's 'Return To The Dark Side Of The Moon'.
In 2009 Gary Green began playing in a new group called Three Friends, so titled after the Gentle Giant album of the same name. The group consisted of former Gentle Giant members Green, Kerry Minnear and Malcolm Mortimore, augmented by additional members and performing the music of Gentle Giant. Gary Green joins us tonight to talk about the remastered Gentle Giant digital releases, his career with the band, Three Friends, and to take some listener calls!

The Parker J Cole Show -- Defending the Resurrection, Part Two

    in Entertainment

Last week we began our discussion on defending the Resurrection. This week, we continue our analysis.

It is one of the most singular events in history -- the Resurrection of the Lord. It would not be an exaggeration to state that EVERYTHING rests on this one thing in the Christian faith. If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead, then He is not God. If He is not God then everything we believe falls like a giant house of cards. He would be no better than a wise man whose words and teachings we could take with a grain of salt.

Defending the resurrection is something every Christian should know how to do. After all, critics would say Jesus’ resurrection was either faked, his body stolen, or some other phenomenon to explain the empty tomb. Every year toward Easter, there's always an attack stating Jesus' did not rise from the dead. Curious theories abound as to explain away the empty tomb. Being able to refute them is essential.

With me to help us to know how to defend the resurrection is apologist Evan Minton, creator of the blog Cerebral Faith. He takes an approach that uses extra-biblical sources as well as Biblical references to defend the reliability of the Gospels record of Jesus rising from the dead. In Part Two of our discussion, we'll be talking about more sources and proofs for the resurrection of the Lord. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air.       Even though Scott has gone underground, it doesn't mean he's alone. He has reconnected with Kathrin, the golden-haired beauty who was with him when it all began. He'd long dreamed of the reunion. But now that Monkey Wrench and Gretel are reunited, something doesn't quite add up. Does he risk the blossoming romance to pry deeper? What if she is a danger to him? Will his emotions leave him blindsided by the truth?

Scott keeps driving deeper into the inner workings of the conspiracy, further from his support and closer to danger. Is it too soon for Scott to be on his own? That question might be answered before he's ready for it.
