    Genetically Modified Foods- Slow Down

    In the early 1980s, four chemical/pharmaceutical companies, Monsanto, Upjohn, Eli Lilly and American Cyanamid began researching a new technology they believed would revolutionize the dairy industry. Through genetic engineering, researchers created recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) to increase milk production in dairy cows by 10 to 25 percent. The FDA approved Monsanto's rBGH product, Posilac, for commercial use on November 5, 1993. Monsanto leads the production of genetically modified seeds and commercial animal stock. Genetically modified food involves the introduction of foreign DNA into plants and animal using the methods of genetic engineering. Genetic modification techniques often involves incorporating bacterial DNA into plants and animals, thus changing their “blueprint” of existence. These changes are much different from selective breeding and mutation breeding. Genetically-modified foods (plants and animals) raise safety issues, environmental concerns, and economic concerns because:

    genetically modified seeds & animals are subject to ownership by corporations,
    original seeds and animals can be “contaminated” by genetically modified plants and animal and
    no one knows the impact of genetically modified plants and animals on the future of the earth or the biology of those who consume them.

    Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) which is a genetically engineered hormone that is injected into dairy cows every other week to force the cows to produce more milk causes problems that is adverse to milk consumers: Cows get mastitis(infections) in the udder causing pus / white blood cells to be expressed into the milk so that antibiotics used to treat mastitis and pus remain in the milk and drank by the consumer -YUM.

    My guest this week is Mr. S.D. WELLS. He is a researcher and writer for Natural News and Mike Adams.     When you hear someone use the term, “Frankenfoods”, there’s a good reason. Genetically-modified foods take genetic material from one organism and put it into another. This gives the organism – plant or animal – characteristics that it didn’t have before, which your body will not recognize and to that end, will create a disease state.

    Although most Americans do not know it, they are eating food that is injected with foreign genes (GMOs), blasted with pesticides, irradiated beyond recognition, pasteurized, homogenized, scraped off a slaughterhouse floor, and it is making us sicker by the minute, and now international CODEX ALIMENTARIUS guidelines are about to set the minimum and maximum levels of so-called “nutrients” we are allowed to have. If it doesn’t meet the minimum international guidelines, just add a little more GMO such as golden rice, chock full of artificial inserted “vitamins” to the food supply and force feed it to the public via stealth, free trade sanctions and the SPS agreement, and by all means make sure that the upper nutrient level wouldn’t keep a hamster alive. And if a company or nation doesn’t meet Codex guidelines? Then it is creating a barrier to free trade and can be prosecuted under the law.

    My guest this week is Marti Oakley, a farm and food activist, who will be talking about the dangers associated with genetically modified food, recent bogus federal food safety legislation and the gradual introduction of international regulations into our country that are making us sick and placing the American people in danger.     Director of the Institute for Responsible Technology, and the leading spokesperson on the health dangers of genetically modified foods, Jeffrey Smith discussed evidence that GMO foods are contributing to health problems in those who consume them. Crops such as corn, soybeans, cotton, and sugar beets are now primarily genetically modified, and a lot of the corn and soybean in particular goes into animal feed. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine reviewed studies of lab animals being fed GM foods and reported that the diet was causing problems with their immune, reproductive, and gastrointestinal systems, contributing to organ damage, and they were aging faster, Smith reported. "We see similar categories improving in pets and livestock when they get off GMOs," but for humans that are increasingly eating such foods, these kinds of problems are on the rise.
