CFR Crew at Union Grove Baptist; What's it like to visit church again?

    in Religion

The CFR crew traveled down to Elberton, Georgia this past Sunday to support 103-year-old Mother Biggs at Union Grove Baptist Church, after they ousted pimp preacher Tim Maddox.  CFR was integral in helping them get rid of previous "pastor" Tim Maddox, who had kicked out Mother Biggs from her family church of 90+years. Now, they are regrouping and trying to rebuild the church.  CFR was there to support.

But for many of us, it was are FIRST time back in church for YEARS.  What was THAT like?  After all... it's still CHURCH!

What Is The Purpose Of Going To Church?

    in Christianity

Many of us faithfully go to church every week. If you don't go, you might know a bunch of people who do. What do you really get out of it, and what should you get out of it?

We know the complaints: everything a person does is a ministry; services are way too long; it's too expensive to go; it takes all day; the praise and worship is longer than the sermon; etc.

Are we following the Biblical model of church? Listen today as we examine what the Bible really says about church. We will compare and contrast the Bible's model to what's going on in today's church.

  • The Church Needs to tell the Truth! EP 23

    in Spirituality

85% of the people are blind to the knowledge of themselves and God, while 10% of the people know the truth, but teach a lie for their personal gain; seen as part of this 10% are religious leaders that teach that God is an incorpeal being (hence the term mystery God). The 10% can also include the governments of the world that deceive and mislead the majority of the world through most of the available media outlets. The remaining 5% are the Poor Righteous Teachers—those who do not subscribe to the teachings of the 10%, as they know and teach that God is the Asiatic Blackman. These are the beliefs of the Five Percenters that is often interpreted to be true.

What group or percentage of the people are you in? So often religious groups speak to the people without considering the community events that are happening from day to day. Is it only for the gain of the church that the Ministers reach out to the congregation? What would Jesus do? It seems as though the route of Jesus is far from todays church.

Persons are often persecuted because of their sin, lifestyle, and dress yet Jesus said let him without sin cast the first stone. So when will the church tell the truth?

Ask the Theologian with Dr. Randy White - October 13, 2015

    in Christianity

    Reflections of 25 Years

Recently Dr. Randy White experienced a milestone when he resigned from his pastorate at the First Baptist Church of Katy, Tex., where he had served since 2003, to pursue new ministry opportunities that he will be sharing much more about in the near future.

He and his wife Shelley have moved to Taos, N.M., where Dr. White is now pastoring the First Baptist Church there, and he also continues to expand his outreach through Randy White Ministries.

As he looks back on 12 years in Katy and 25 years of pastoral ministry, Dr. White has been writing a series of articles sharing some of the lessons he has learned and insights he has gained during the past quarter-century.

On today’s edition of Ask the Theologian, Dr. White will walk the listeners through some of the most important of these reflections. Here is a list of the topics we will cover:

Sometimes we need to re-learn the things we thought we knew in our youth.
There is a difference between growing a crowd and growing a church.
Believe it or not, churches can become too big.
There are actually advantages to participating in a smaller church.
We can become so busy in ministry that we sometimes begin to neglect the Bible itself.
It is important that a pastor focus on preaching—as opposed to leading.
    The pastor’s title matters.
The more you get to know about a church, the more you know that it has problems.
Most church problems spring from very simple issues.
Boring is not always bad, but truth is ultimate.
Boredom is not the sin, but disregarding boring truth is the sin.
In that light, we have a new series on dispensationalism beginning on Wednesday night.
