CYNTHIA HOLIDAY - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW- TUES, MAR, 31 2015 - 7:00 pm PST

    in Music

She's not Billie, not Judy, not Jennifer, not Carmen, not Nancy, it's Cynthia Holiday!

Cynthia Holiday is a real crowd pleaser and her renditions of straight-ahead jazz, blues and pop standards are full of swing, improvisation and soul. Clearly, singing live before an audience is where she feels most comfortable.

Kevin Mahogany says, "I met Cynthia many years ago when I used to frequent various jam sessions in Harlem clubs. I was struck by her ability to quickly command the stage. Cynthia has fantastic stage presence and it's time for her music to be heard."

Cynthia says "I love the up-and-close feeling of performing in small, intimate venues like SMOKE or Showmans Jazz Club in NYC. I also enjoy the thrill of performing for an audience of 10,000 + people at outdoor events like the Harlem Jazz & Blues Festival or Hartford Jazz Festival." Following her performance, the Hartford Courier's music review said of Cynthia "She may have been unfamiliar to the audience, but Holiday quickly won over the crowd with her blues-soaked swing and charming banter."

Since the 2008 release of her debut album, All The Way, on the Miles High Records Label, Cynthia Holiday has made new fans and friends in the US and internationally. Most recently she served as a judge in the 2013 Asian Dreams Jazz Vocal Competition followed by a performance with the TS Monk Septet in Osaka, Japan.

Cynthia's gifted vocals and natural inclination for jazz is attributed to her upbringing in Newark, New Jersey where music filled her home on any given day. Her stepfather, trumpeter Calvin Hughes was a band leader and performed with such jazz greats as Count Basie, Frank Foster, Clark Terry, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, and Big Maybelle.

Cubs Send Prospects Down, Final Four Preview, Blackhawks Bounce Back

    in Sports

The Chicago Cubs announced yesterday that they sent 3 of their young prospects to the minors.  Team President Theo Epstein explained his reasons for doing so, but assured media and fans that all 3 players will have big roles for the Cubs moving forward.  We're down to four teams in the NCAA Tournament, and three #1 seeds have made it through.  Tonight I'll give my preview of one of the two matchups: Kentucky vs. Wisconsin in a rematch of last year's semifinal round.  The Blackhawks got much needed wins on back to back nights against two Western Conference contenders, and things are getting very tight in the standings with 6 games left in the regular season.  The Bulls, meanwhile, had a solid wire-to-wire victory over the lowly New York Knicks on Saturday, and have won 5 of 6.  With the team in solid form, Derrick Rose has rejoined the team in full-contact practices, though Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau is still not committing to a specific return date.  All this and your phone calls at (347) 327-9183!

The Wars of Olden Gods Before Mankind Emerges

    in Music

A person that are brainwashed by the A.D. Anno Domini religion, without a chance of failure, have a shallow and illogical mind. They live with clouded imagination, and are always cynical, unable to see the glorious life of their divine antecedent ancestors. The only way to understand the world we live in,  is to be sober, literate, and intelligent. It means don't go to any church, it is a  foolish believers joint. Because mankind has an intelligent origin, and to know how life began, requires the ability to read and comprehend issues. To just read words in this cultural way where most people do not respect the deeper property of word elements--puts one at a serious disadvantage. They are two important points to bare in mind, we will never meet the living ancestors to tell us what happened in their days gone by, and so we must read to understand the messages they have left behind for us. When we cannot read to  know what they say to us,  we are left out into the abyss of ignorance, and that ignorance has you can see has brought down our culture, so that it is now sitting in the psychological ruins today,  because of the holy bible which sedated it.
