    Christians and Politics

    in Christianity

With the GOP debate all over everyone's "Social Media" feeds this week; Jared, Brandon, and Byron take a look at the role Christians should be playing when it comes to politics.  Social Media is full of "memes" and quotes claiming that what America needs is a Christian in the White House and all of the problems would fix themselves.  We'll also discuss why it sometimes seems that Christians are more "patriotic" than they are Christian.

    Is Trans the New Gay?

    in LGBT

Kudos to the Transgender community for finally getting the positive spotlight they deserve. Celebrities Janet Mock, Laverne Cox, Chaz Bono and Caitlyn Jenner have truly helped kick down doors and ignite thought provoking conversations about another aspect of human sexuality. However, some of the media exposure seems a bit contrived and competitive as if networks are trying to 'one-up' the other by including a Trans topic or character in their programming.

Most recently rumors spread of the Real Housewives of Atlanta adding a Trans person to their cast. That being said, are Black gay men no longer the hot ticket on reality television. Has their season runs its course, and if so is it wise for the Trans community to try to fill that void? Will it devalue their struggle or take things to the next level.

This is going to be a very exciting conversation with special guests Tyesse Jackson and Kentay Williams.

  • Should Christians support the Confederate Flag

    in Politics Conservative

Should we really be supporting the Confederate flag right now? I am talking specifically to southern, white, conservative Christians. It seems as though that most Christians have been sleeping through the issue of Gay marriage, the horrifying Planned Parenthood debacle, and now that the Confederate flag is being threatened we have all of a sudden woken up. Listen in on tonights show and hear one perspective on this issue from the scriptures. Let me know if you listened, and if you're listening live, please call in.

Stop the persecution and liquidation of Chaldean Christians

    in Politics Conservative

Who are the Chaldean Christians? They are our brothers and sisters in Christ, what say you??

For the first time in 2,000 years, there are no Christians in Mosul. What will become of other Iraqi Christians? A Christian Holocaust is in our mist. We are actually calling this a Christian genocide… Day by day, it is getting worse and worse. More children are being beheaded. Mothers are being raped and killed. Fathers are being hung. Right now, 300,000 Christians are fleeing Iraq and living in neighboring cities.”

Christians have become a form [of] currency in this tragedy… I know of one priest who was kidnapped for two months … they asked for a ransom of $120,000, which the family managed to raise and deliver. … But hours later, the priest was killed and his body cut up, with pieces of him sent in a box to the family.

The Islamic State terror group has distributed online photos of three women believed to be kidnapped Assyrian Christians, warning that if a ransom is not paid for their freedom, the women will be turned into sex slaves.

Tens of thousands of Iraqi Christians who have fled the Islamic State terror group to neighboring countries such as Jordan have said they are stuck in limbo, with nowhere to go and limited ways to provide a living. Pope Francis has condemned the world's silence on the issue, while an Iraqi archbishop has said that Christians in the region are hated because they want to keep hold of their faith.

  • GAY CONVERSION THERAPY – REALLY?

    in Current Events

    GAY CONVERSION THERAPY – REALLY?

In case you never heard of it, some people think they can convert gays, especially young people, into heterosexuals by using a type of “therapy.”  Really!  Of course this assumes that being gay is like a bad habit or mental illness that can be cured.  So what is this all about, does it help, does it hurt, and what are we doing about it?

Oregon is one state among several that recently passed a law prohibiting conversion therapy, and other states are considering such bans.

Samantha Ames is an attorney with the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) knows about conversion, what it’s supposed to do and what it really does. She’s served as a Policy Fellow in Washington, D.C. before moving to San Francisco to work as a staff attorney focusing on conversion therapy cases. She has testified on the harms of conversion therapy and the constitutionality of efforts to end it before both state and federal bodies, as well as at the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva, Switzerland.

Please join us to learn more about conversion and the hype around it.
