    Tim Kirkman- Film Loggerheads

    in Family

Join us Wednesday August 19, 2015 with host Pam Kroskie and her guest Tim Kirkman. Tim produced the film Loggerheads and has a new film coming up called Lazy Eye.

Inspired by a true story, LOGGERHEADS follows the lives of three people: Grace, a birthmother searching for the son she gave up for adoption when she was a teenager; Mark, the son she relinquished, who makes a pilgrimage to the coast to rescue endangered sea turtles; and Elizabeth, Mark’s adoptive mother and a minister’s wife, who becomes concerned by the changes taking place in her suburban world. Set in three distinctive regions of North Carolina in three different years, the film examines the political and personal distress that happens in the lives of one adoption triad.

Shot on location in North Carolina, LOGGERHEADS stars Tess Harper, Bonnie Hunt, Kip Pardue, Michael Kelly, Chris Sarandon, Michael Learned, Robin Weigert, Trevor Gagnon, Ann Owens Pierce, Valerie Watkins, Joanne Pankow, Michael Esper and Kelly Mizell. It was distributed theatrically by Strand Releasing. LOGGERHEADS was produced by Gill Holland.

    Lazy Eye

Dean and Alex, two men who have not seen each other in 17 years, share a weekend  at a vacation house in the desert near Joshua Tree, where they open up old wounds, reveal secrets, and decide whether or not they might have a future together.

    Is Trans the New Gay?

    in LGBT

Kudos to the Transgender community for finally getting the positive spotlight they deserve. Celebrities Janet Mock, Laverne Cox, Chaz Bono and Caitlyn Jenner have truly helped kick down doors and ignite thought provoking conversations about another aspect of human sexuality. However, some of the media exposure seems a bit contrived and competitive as if networks are trying to 'one-up' the other by including a Trans topic or character in their programming.

Most recently rumors spread of the Real Housewives of Atlanta adding a Trans person to their cast. That being said, are Black gay men no longer the hot ticket on reality television. Has their season runs its course, and if so is it wise for the Trans community to try to fill that void? Will it devalue their struggle or take things to the next level.

This is going to be a very exciting conversation with special guests Tyesse Jackson and Kentay Williams.
