A CONVERSATION WITH ERNEST AND JOE GALLO
What if Mayor Sabatino had borrowed $15 million?
As I assumed the office of Mayor there were unresolved issues that had to be dealt with. A significant issue was whether or not the city of Modesto was going to contribute $15 million to the new performing arts center. Ironically the vote to contribute the money was to have been taken a few weeks before my election.
I contacted the city's director of finance and asked him if he could get $15 million. he replied that it was possible but said Mayor you will not like the balloon payment.
Even though the county had already committed to their $15 million, because they were able to sell the tobacco tax money that was coming to the County, I decided that I could not commit to $15 million we did not have.
I invited Ernest and Joe Gallo to the Mayor's office for lunch. I informed Ernest Gallo that the city simply did not have the money. He replied why am I not surprised. I then asked him if he wanted me to tell Marie Gallo and he replied, no, I will tell her myself. I have always felt that Ernest Gallo was truly not surprised at the city's financial condition and was satisfied with my decision.
Later the council did commit to sidewalk and street improvements around the center.
Today the County subsidizes the Gallo performing arts for $1.2 million a year. The council’s decision not to participate was met with widespread resentment but I can take satisfaction in the fact that the city of Modesto does not face the burden of a $1.2 million subsidy.

Transformational Dialogue Radio host Craig Weiner, DC, interviews Fred Gallo PhD and together they explore how two of the fastest growing approaches for emotional and behavioral change are working synergistically.
Energy Psychology and Mindfulness stem from ancient concepts and practices that have been recently scientifically validated for their therapeutic benefits. Mindful Energy Psychology (MEP) is Dr. Fred Gallo’s answer to an integration of these powerful approaches to alleviate human suffering. Energy Psychology (EP) approaches generally focus on eliminating a psychological problem by addressing energetic substrates; whereas, mindfulness traditionally focuses on consciousness, observation and acceptance, without an aim to eliminate anything. While the two approaches might be seen as diametrically opposed, reciprocal synergy emerges from an integration, such that EP is deepened via a mindfulness attitude and practices, and mindfulness benefits are accelerated through EP.

The Israeli regime, which was dissatisfied with the presence of USS Liberty in the region, decided to attack the USS Liberty. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. 34 people were killed and more than 171 were wounded in the Israeli attack. Perhaps Marsh could make the list of Sinclair accomplishments public, or is it a personnel matter.
It would be nice to know what taxpayers are getting for their money.
Kevin Valine of the Modesto bee writes a story about "officials look at silencing train horns".
This project can now be added to the many projects that Sinclair has brought forward with consultant expense to the City.
Most of his projects have not gone off the drawing boards and those that have, failed.
Perhaps the train noise is too much for the Gallo Center.
