Jesus'existence back to the creation of the world and before[John 1:1-5] Despite His royal ancestry and despite His heavenly preexistence as the eternal Word and Son of God, Jesus was of humble origins humanly speaking and was viewed as such by the people of His day. When He taught in Nazareth,  the townspeople asked, "Is not-  this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and  of Juda, and Simon?                             a boy of twelve years (2:40-52), and a man of 30 beginning His ministry(3:21--23)

Jesus’ Birth in Bethlehem (Luke 2:1-7)

    in Christianity

    TEXTS

Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.

While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Giving As Jesus Gave: Giving The Gifts Of Truth, Beauty and Goodness

    in Spirituality

This week we'll explore the most precious gifts giving to humanity by Jesus with a reading of two amazing sections from the Urantia Book, Paper 100: Section 7 - The Acme of Religious Living and Paper 171: Section 7 - As Jesus Passed By.

    Here is a preview:

Jesus spread good cheer everywhere he went. He was full of grace and truth.
Jesus really understood men; therefore could he manifest genuine sympathy and show sincere compassion.
Jesus could help men so much because he loved them so sincerely. He truly loved each man, each woman, and each child.
Jesus was never in a hurry. He had time to comfort his fellow men "as he passed by."
When he smiled on a man, that mortal experienced increased capacity for solving his manifold problems.
He frequently set out to help a person by asking for help.
Great things happened not only because people had faith in Jesus, but also because Jesus had so much faith in them.
It was literally true, "He went about doing good."
He lived the truth, even as he taught it. He was the truth
Jesus was an unusually cheerful person... His constant word of exhortation was, "Be of good cheer."
The Master was always generous. He never grew weary of saying, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Said he, "Freely you have received, freely give."
Jesus was great because he was good, and yet he fraternized with the little children.
Jesus was the perfectly unified human personality. And today, as in Galilee, he continues to unify mortal experience and to co-ordinate human endeavors

Join us as we explore Jesus' splendid gifts to us, the greatest of which is the gift of love. We also hope to share our favorite ways of giving and some of our favorite charities. Please call and share your gifts!

    Deepertruth: My Christmas Timeline

    in Religion

We believe that Jesus Christ created a church that is the Pillar and Foundation of all truth, just as the Bible states. That we have an infallible Bible (and we do) is only because an infallible church gave it to us. That church-and only that Church- is fully and completely entrusted by God with the Scriptures and the Truths of Religion. Everyone else is guessing, to greater or less success, all falling short of the fullness of the truth of Catholicism.  March-April 2 B.C. “In the sixth month (since the announcement of John the Baptist-October 2 B.C.), the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail Full of Grace, the Lord is with you. But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom there will be no end.”
    (Luke 1:26-22)

A Moment In The Word: Where Is The Kingdom of God

    in Christianity

"And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed" (Genesis 2:8)

For the past few weeks we have been studying about what it means to be a disciple as well as what is a kingdom. As we are in training to become effective disciples (apprentices) we also need to understand where we will apply that which Yahweh has planned for us.  What are disciples commanded to do and where shall they abide?  What does it mean to be preparing for Kingdom living?  What does the Kingdom look like, and whose the ruler of the Kingdom?

"After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 'The time has come,' he said. 'The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!'" (Mark 1:14-15)
