"...to narrowly define Hip-Hop as an oppositional or an art that inherently resist racism or oppression is an oversimplification. The art not only resist the overarching themes of racial discrimination inherent in America popular culture, but it also affirms the racial status quo while simultaneously offering alternative perspectives. Fundamentally, Hip-Hop is a varied, complex art form with plenty of room for expression along various ideological lines..." Jeffery O.G. Ogbar, Ph.D "Hip Hop Revolution: The Culture and Politics of Rap"
Dr. Ogbar return to "The FX" for a continued discussion on "The Influence of Hip-Hop," due to the overwhelming responses of Part 1 (aired 9/8/14). Be sure to tune in Monday at 7/8p (ct/et) for another great series of dialogue from the GreenHouse FX Radio Show, only on blogtalkradio.com.

America is in an economic boom. The economy is strong, very strong. Companies have money to invest and the profit from investments are bringing in lots of return on every dollar. People have money to spend and many are spending. If you are not feeling the bull market in your life, it is time for you to experience the running of the bull. Either get a good job, a pay raise on the job you have, a promotion, or a new job. Companies are experiencing more profit than ever. Companies are have fewer employees, paying employees less, and providing little benefits to employees and paying little or no taxes. The employees are responsible for producing goods and services. The same employees and consumers are the ones purchasing the goods and services. Millions of Americans are jobless today and the same politicians you voted for have made it legal for owners of companies to send jobs into countries so companies can pay cheaper wages. Politicians have made it legal for owners to bring in people from other countries to do jobs here in America while millions of us Americans remain jobless. Much of unemployment is political and you have political control for sure. Register to Vote during this month. Vote for politicians who can tell you what they are doing or have done to raise minimum wages; renew unemployment benefits; create jobs. I can tell you from tracking politics over these last 6 years who will pass the right bills so America's families can begin to reap paychecks, and new homes, and new cars, and vacations, and children who can have a little something extra more often. Begin to seek the job you want to be part of your career path. Experience the stock markets bull run with a job; a raise on your job; a raise in minimum wages; a promotion on your job; or find a new job!
American Made is the new chic. From Farmers Markets to glassware to clothing, etc., more and more Americans are insisting on products made entirely in this country. Why is that? My guest today, Wendy Rosen, is going to talk about that. She jumped on the bandwagon 25 years ago with her American Made Show, which, in its first few years, grew more than 400%. She also founded the Artists Business Institute, a non-profit that teaches artisans the business skills they need to survive and thrive.

Karen Rands returns with her Compassionate Capitalist radio show to discuss how a global market impacts entrepreneurs & investors when it comes to predicting the success of an early stage company. The best selling book "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman, set forth the premise that business leaders should view the world as a level playing field in terms of commerce, where all competitors have an equal opportunity. Although books is a decade old, the idea is relevant in todays world just as much back then.
In this episode, Karen will explore what this means to entrepreneurs and investors when it comes to launching and growing a company. The ying/yang of a "flat world" is competition & collaboration. When it comes to bringing innovation to market it is easy to think that a company has "no competition". This is rarely the case. The competition may be indirect, shifting the staus quo, or simply in another part of the world that neither the entrepreneur or investor knows about. Not anticipating the existence of competition creates a false sense of safety. Likewise, identifying potential collaboration partners can strengthen a company before they are faced with direct competition to remain in a place of dominance.
