Brad Absher, Amanda Fish, 2 Couch Kid New Musics - Hank Mowery & Peter Novelli

    in Music

SHOW # 266 - Live, Uncut & Uncensored Conversations With "Musicians You Should Know"

Brad Absher is out of Houston, Texas and he and his band, Swamp Royale, have been a fixture on the Gulf Coast for over 20 years and he has appeared at the IBC getting to the finals. His new album is entitled Lucky Dog and Brad and I will explore his musical journey and speak about the album and where the band is headed next.

I got to meet Amanda Fish at the IBC this past January.  She was in town to just meet people, play a little and let people know about her new album, Down In The Dirt.   She actually gave me a self-burned copy of the master of the album when we chatted On The Couch. I knew I had to bring her onto a Monday show and show some love, because the album is great.  In March, Vizztone picked her up, so if you don’t know about Samantha’s big sister now, you will soon!  And this is also the first set of siblings we have had on the show!

Hank Mowery first sat on The Couch back in October of 2013.  He is back on a Couch Kid New Music Segment for his new release Excuses Plenty and we will talk about what Hank and The Hawktones have been up to since we last spoke and share this hot off the presses release with you.

Back in July of 2014, Peter Novelli came and sat On The Couch for a Couch Kid New Music Segment and shared PRE-MASTERS for his upcoming album, St. Amant Sessions.  Well, the album is finally done and Peter had his CD Release in the Dominican Republic last week and this week we get to share the finished product and maybe even compare a song or two from back in July!

The Ministry Of Music: Featuring Larry Clark

    in Christianity

This world is full of various types of music. From Jazz, Rap, Country, R&B, Classic, New Age, Metal, Rock, Pop, Gospel, Soul, Inspirational, Reggae, Latin, and the list goes on and on. Music has a way of influencing our actions, moods, and thoughts. In other words....there is a ministry in music, whether good or bad. In this show we want to focus in on the church and how music through history has been instrumental in worship and encouragement to those who are receptive to it's message. When it comes to music, what is acceptable by God? What is truly conducive to proper worship? How much of the secular world have we allowed in to the church?

This being a week where we will be featuring many aspects from our book entitled "12 Kings and Their Treasures: Transparent, Testimony, Truth". As we spotlight our fellow King Eric Haylock's chapter entitled "Hip Hop"..we will have the honor to be joined by our VERY special guest Mr. Larry Clark. A talented songwriter, producer out of Detroit, Michigan who is also a member of Perfecting Church that's lead by Bishop Marvin L. Winans. Larry also comes from a legendary musical family known as " The Clark Sisters"..where he recently worked on a couple of projects with his aunt Twinkie Clark. He is also the Minister of Music for New Greater Love Baptist Church out of Detroit. We are grateful to have him share with us his insight on music within the church. Tell your family and friends...and join myself Rodney D. Kirkwood and my special co-host and fellow King.. Mandrill Mclaughlin as well for what will be a DYNAMIC broadcast with the 12 Kings. Join us and be blessed!

Unfortunately, the situation may not hold a lot of weight in the way of racial intimidation.  But, why is that?  Call in this Monday at 7pm to comment on the HOT TOPIC ~ "ARE BLACK PEOPLE CONTRIBUTING TO RACISM BY USING THE N-WORD?"
