WORLD WIDE AFRICA THE VOICE OF THE PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT

    in Politics

"The SAFE Program also aims to unite Black and poor communities by actively recruiting and hiring a number of our youth to help implement these much-needed services. Both drivers and escorts will be recruited from among the young and unemployed in our community, a strategythat at the same time will cut down the number of youth who would consider snatching a pocket book just to get a little change. In addition, drivers and escorts will be given extensive training in their respective fields, with both groups receiving intensive safety and FIRST-aid instruction.

State, federal, and local funding of the SAFE Program will also mean additional transportation-at least five vans with a seating capacity of twelve per sons each, plus the hiring ofa full-time program director and assistants. All totaled, the proposed annual budget for the SAFE Program comes to slightly less than two hundred thousand dollars ($195,530).

E orts to acquire funds for the SAFE Program have not yet been successful. A formal proposal has been presented before Oakland Model Cities, a federally funded poverty program, but that agency has made no commitment. A portion of Oakland's $4.5 million in revenue-sharing funds has been suggested for the SAFE Program, but the city administrators have been typically mum. Complete and adequate funding for the SAFE Program was, in fact, an integral part ofthe Seale-Brown Fourteen-Point Program to Rebuild Oakland in the 1973 campaign and, far from being abandoned, it will be included in initiatives and referendums.

The SAFE funding proposal, like the program itself, is an argument for our protection instead of our abuse by public service agencies, which theoreti cally function on our behalf. SAFE is a simple but basic program designed to help and secure the lives of a very important yet often forgotten segment of our communities: the older people." HUEY P. NEWTON

The Night Time Fiasco Welcomes Back Helion Prime!

    in Rock Music

Helion Prime was first conceived from a common love of metal and all things science. The band was founded when Jason Ashcraft (of Dire Peril) asked Heather Michele (of Graveshadow) to form a project with him. Between the two, they had worked with such artists as Mark Briody (Jag Panzer), Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers), Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), Ralph Scheepers (Primal Fear), Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon/Star One), and Niklas Isfeldt (Dream Evil). The concept; power metal with themes based on actual scientific theories with the occasional sci-fi tribute. The name Helion Prime was borrowed from an alien planet featured in the film "Chronicles of Riddick," a movie the two were great fans of. She accepted the exciting proposition without hesitation. The two recorded their first demo track in June of 2014, and with the help of members from Dire Peril and Axiom, Helion Prime debuted their first live performance in August 2014 at the Boardwalk in Orangevale, CA. The dynamic duo then released their first EP on February 26th, 2015 with a full length album in the works. Helion Prime’s lineup was completed after bringing Jeremy Steinhouse on bass and Justin Herzer (of Axiom) on drums. In August of 2015, Helion Prime set out on their first tour, playing shows in Oregon, Nevada, California, and Utah. Their debut album will be out at the end of February, and the band (who payed us a visit early last year) will be back on the show to premiere some new songs for all of you to hear, so be sure to tune in!!!

Are Futurists Really Preterists - Review of Kenneth Gentry's Latest FP Attack

    in Religion

Kenneth L. Gentry, Jr., ThD, and author of Before Jerusalem Fell, The Beast of Revelation and Navigating the Book of Revelation, to name a few of his works, has launched an attack against Full Preterism, also known as Realized Eschatology or Covenant Eschatology. Gentry wrote in his blog via question, "Are Preterists Really Futurists? The Title is quite misleading and attempts to skew the issues ever so slightly. Gentry is a PARTIAL Preterist. That means not Full or Consistent. Why is that the case? It's because he yet believers in a FUTURE return of Christ. That make's him a FUTURIST. Thus, the reason for our modification of his title above: Are PARTIAL PRETERISTS Really FUTURISTS? We answer a resounding yes as we discuss the reasons on tonight's broadcast.

This is very important because in Gentry's latest blog, PostmillennialismToday.com, he acknowledges the growth and influence of the Consistent Preterist view. First, he refutes a charge of wishful thinking by Sam Frost who argued that Full Preterism was not growing. Gentry's concern is that it is getting out of hand for futurists. They tried to control it by shutting down communication within the walls of the church buildings and on their limited platforms, but he acknowledged that the internet has been the main source of our growth. Add to that a host of publications, seminars, and events.

He calls the imminent time statements, "this generation", "coming soon" "at hand", "shortly to come to pass" leaping off points for the fulfillment of all Bible prophecy. Yet, Gentry leaps off from the Creeds, in arguing for the same terms to support his view of the Book of Revelation. He makes other unfounded charges. We will address them in tonight's broadcast. You don't want to miss it.

RTS Interview/ Promo for JK Ensley

    in Writing

Join Donna Wright tonight as she talks with featured author JK Ensley about her books and the upcoming Hummingbird Place Event, Romancing the Smokies.

K Ensley is a native Tennessean by way of Missouri, born there and quickly ushered down South. A product of public school and private college, she spent her early twenties bouncing across the country. Fascinated by rich culture, ancient customs, and thick accents, she is compelled to drink in the many exquisite differences humanity is gifted with. A self-described, happily divorced mother of three, she does little to hide her wicked wit, advanced sarcasm, and extreme shoe addiction.

JK currently has nine novels available and two more only weeks away from print. When recently asked to describe her A Dance with Destiny series, JK said…”A Dance with Destiny is kind of like… If Lord of the Rings and Legion had a baby girl and they enrolled her in Quentin Tarantino’s School for the Tragically Cursed where her teacher was Drizzit, she became best friends with Bleach, sat beside of Death Note, and ended up dating Black Butler… Then, yeah. That pretty much sums it up. It’s totally full of adventure and feels. So… Much… Feels.”

Even if you know nothing about the things she just mentioned, A Dance with Destiny is an amazing story full of love and loss, dreams and nightmares, friends and family. It will suck you in and spin you around until you hope it will never end.

“At the core of me, I’m one slightly twisted, pink haired, sword wielding, invisible ninja with a laptop, an imagination, and very little me time. That’s just who I am. I’m comfortable in my skin and I love my life. Totally not kidding about the hair, the swords, or the laptop. Although, I might have stretched it just a little with the invisible part.”

A Just Cause - Corrupt Judge Poster Child for Sentencing Disparities

    in US Government

Lamont Banks, Cliff Stewart, and Lisa Stewart of the Colorado exoneration firm A Just Cause, discuss what happens when the wheels of justice trample unbridled over the rights of innocent Americans.

Although the American system of justice is the most-respected worldwide, it is still a system designed, and operated, by humans, which means it's not perfect. Lamont, Cliff and Lisa will highlight ongoing struggles against "the system" to free wrongfully imprisoned people, and what happens when justice miscarries against an actually innocent person.

A Just Cause is currently campaigning for "FreeTheIRP6," who's been wrongly imprisoned in Florence, CO, by a corrupt US District Court Judge Christine Arguello for a crime they didn't commit. Read full story: www.freetheirp6.org.
