Should there be limits to free speech?
Only weeks after the demonstrations in support of freedom of expression for Charlie Hebdo, a French court has convicted three individuals for posting homophobic tweets.
The hashtag used in the tweets was "let's burn the gays." While there is no argument that the language is offensive and disgusting, should we begin placing limitations on free speech to exclude remarks of this type?
If so, who decides what the line for what qualifies as offensive and illegal?

Bastia Marlowe was born in and grew up in New Orleans, LA under another name. There, she lived amongst the living and the dead, spent her early adolescence immersed in rain, attended Catholic church, and roamed the city's haunted and flavored streets. She loved all things New Orleans and once stood in line for 5 hours to be included in the film adaption of fellow New Orleanian Anne Rice's "Interview with a Vampire." After a stint of performing theater and writing, she moved to Los Angeles in 2001 in her 20s hoping to experience ghosts but mainly exists among the walking dead. She mostly misses Audubon Park, the low-hanging branches of trees lining St. Charles Ave., stage lights, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, NOMA, driving through City Park, creaky floors in old houses, old cemeteries, and rain. Bastia Marlowe is the great-grand daughter of Marie Laveau.
About Marie Catherine Laveau (September 10, 1801 - June 16, 1881 ) was a practitioner of Voodoo renowned in New Orleans. (As for the date of her birth, while popular sources often say 1794, the records indicate 1801.) Her daughter, Marie Laveau II, (1827 c. 1895) also practiced Voudoun, as well as Voodoo. She and her mother had great influence over their multiracial following. In 1874 as many as twelve thousand spectators, both black and white, swarmed to the shores of Lake Pontchartrain to catch a glimpse of Marie Laveau II performing her legendary rites on St. John's Eve (June 23–24)
Host Janet Kira Lessin interviews contactee/experiencers Chad & Alta Dillard on the Experiencer's Network. Chad & Alta met and married in the early nineties in the city of Little Rock Arkansas. The marriage was one of destiny and as Alta would say, arranged. What they did not know is that from that moment on the couple would partake in a journey into the world of unknown and High Strangeness.
From aliens to ghosts, to a shape shifter, from meeting people who have been seen, and some unseen, this is a story for the open minded. In 1995 Chad & Alta experienced their first UFO, a massive sight in Hammond, Louisiana. This experience opened their eyes and led them to the well-known French Quarter in New Orleans where the high strangeness continued.
As they tried to take day by day to understand their place and purpose of these unusual events, they met a young lady, a co-worker named Jacqueline. Little did Jacqueline know this would be the most unusual bond of her life.
In 1997, a night that would live with them to their last breath, Chad, Alta and Jacqueline were taken from a street corner in the French Quarter. Alta calls this “the night of missing time” where the three have shared their own individual experiences. Everything from Chad’s blue being encounter, Alta’s blond female interaction, and an implant found in her arm and four digit prints. Their story will take your breath away.
The High Strangeness continued when, in 1999, Chad and Alta moved to New Mexico where Chad went face to face with a black eyed adult and other anomalous happenings. The couple moved to Denver, Colorado for their jobs, and found themselves in the middle of the infamous Columbine High School massacre which occurred on April 20, 1999.
On January 7, 2015, two masked gunmen killed 12 people, 11 of whom worked for the French satirical newspaper, "Charlie Hebdo," a publication with a reputation for lampooning Islam and its prophet.
Terror alerts remain high, and in the wake of the killings, Charlie Hebdo remained defiant, publishing a caricature of Muhammad on its very next issue. Millions of copies immediately sold.
Soon after, Pope Francis declared his condemnation of the attack and hi support for free speech, but also declared that "you cannot insult people's faith."
The debate rages on. Did these attackers truly represent the religion of Islam? Should the attack have been expected because it was provoked? Should satire expect protection in all of its forms, or are there limits? And what should responsible media outlets do in regard to religion, free speech and the safety of its employees.

Margaret Huffstickler is Carolyn's guest. She gives us a detailed examination of new information coming forth about the guilt of Alfred Dreyfus, the Jew in the center of the French fiasco known as "The Dreyfus Affair" that lasted from 1894 to 1906. Dreyfus was found guilty of treason, but later exonerated because of the untiring, combined efforts of united Jewry using every kind of criminal means at their disposal.
The Dreyfus Affair, which launched the Ligue des Droits de'lHomme, has strong similarities with the Leo Frank case in Georgia, USA only a few years later (which launched the ADL), and also to the Auschwitz hoax because of the intricacies and confusing twists and turns which the average person finds too hard or too boring to follow. But it is a necessary lesson in the nature of the beast that we face.
