Samuel Fraunces was a Cook for George Washington, who was born in the Caribbean of black and white parents. Fraunces owned one of the finest taverns in colonial New York City. When Washington arrived in Philadelphia in 1790 as President, Fraunces came with him as his personal cook and established a business referred to later as the Golden Sun Tavern. Fraunces's Tavern was the social center of the New York City. It was there in 1768 that the Commerce was organized. It was here in 1774 that the Sons of Liberty planned a New York "Tea Party." http://www.kitchensisters.org/hidden_kitchens/herculeshemings_story27.htm
Sam's daughter Phoebe is credited with saving Washington's life and spying for him. The father and daughter's racial identity is recorded as Negro, colored, Haitian Negro, Mulatto, "fastidious old Negro" and swarthy. Fraunces was immortalized in Philip Freneau's 1786 book of poems as "Black Sam." He was familiarly called by his nick name because of his tan complexion and his tight., curly hair. The Son's of the Revolution (SR), are on a mission to change Sam's Tavern into a Museum, and remake him into a white man. As a descendant of Mulattoes from Virginia I am all to familiar with the racial classifications. Several of my ancestors were classified as White, because of their light coloring. Look at the first and last pictures, in posted to this site. The first picture is of (Black) Sam and the last is Sarah Pierce Green, and next to her is Sam. They were light-skinned Mulattoes!

Mr. Moonshine is a 4-piece alternative rock band from Long Beach, California with a fearlessness to explore the bizarre. Brothers Anthony Pedroza (vocals, bass, guitar) and Andrew Pedroza (vocals, synth), Daysmel Muniz (guitar), and Ternell Cooksey (drums) embrace the often-uncharted territories of music, which lends itself to the band’s alluringly dark sound and theatrical mentality. Mr. Moonshine formed in the summer of 2012 while Anthony, Andrew and Daysmel were in New York City performing the rock opera, LOLPERA, which Andrew wrote. “Comfort Me With Absinthe” is truly Mr. Moonshine’s sonic flagship -- a clean, mysterious, beautiful sound that hints at the band’s inherently theatrical nature. The combination of brothers Andrew and Anthony’s contrasting yet complimentary vocals act as the bait that strongly yet carefully pull the listener through a conceptual soundscape of textural and emotional instrumentation. The band’s fearlessness carries through to their general attitude of openness and honesty. Ultimately though, as the last track “Bend Or Break” suggests, the listener is presented with an album that dances with the ebb and flow, or yin and yang, of light and darkness. Mr. Moonshine have played countless festivals and events such as the OC Pride, Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor, Long Beach’s Zombie Walk, and Long Beach Pride, where they covered the entire soundtrack of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, costumed in drag. Fans can expect highly energetic performance that, as Andrew says, “aren’t afraid to get a little spooky, weird and sexy all at once.”

Legal Eagle and the Coach Radio with David Altenbern and Bryan Kiser with their guests Randye Spina & Joe Chatham:
Randye Spina - Marketing major with an MBA who got trapped in corporate america for 20+ years. Then realized that many small businesses were struggling & that my expertise could help them. I've always been on the side of the underdog, so it just fit my personality & value system. She just launched the first of its kind, on-demand prepaid marketing membership club for those businesses that want a reliable marketing expert on their side, but don't want to/can't "hire" & train. I require no training! Get up & running fast!
Joe Chatham - a 25+ year veteran of the mortgagfe industry. In my journey I have developed an expertise in professional networking. So much so, in fact, that I have now build the premier business collaborative in New England (and developing NYC). Prior to building the USA 500 Clubs, LLC, I built the E. Coast presence for a large networking organization in CA, ProVisors. I know how to connect people. The USA 500 Clubs is a very high-end business colaborative made up of mostly attorneys, accountants, and financial professionals. It sprung out of a business relationship gone sour in 2013. I felt that having high standards for membership was key to building a relationaship driven business where commerce results from said relationships.
Today I will be joined by Executive Director, Michele Giordano and Director of Policy and Research, Nan Strauss of Choices in Childbirth. Last fall, CIC introduced an important piece of research. The Doula Report identifies the value of doula support in achieving critical improvements in maternity care in line with the priorities identified in the Affordable Care Act. The report examines the landscape of birth in NYC including health disparities based on race, ethnicity and income as well as challenges for doula work.
Choices in Childbirth is a non-profit organization focused on ensuring that all women have access to maternity care safe, healthy, equitable and empowering. Their mission is to promote evidence based, mother-friendly childbirth options through public education, consumer advocacy and pioneering policy reform. They seek to improve maternity care by providing the public, especially childbearing women and their families with the information necessary to make fully informed decisions relating to how, where and with whom they will give birth. www.choicesinchildbirth.org
