Understanding the Purpose and Power of the Woman by Dr. Myles Munroe

    in Religion

The woman is an enhancer by being the man's companion, being good for him, sharing his vision, being his helper, and being adaptable to him.  When a woman and a man learn to live together harmoniously within their purposes and positions, helping and supporting one another, they can live the lives they were created to live and find contentment and fulfillment.

A Changing World--Live With The Rayfords

    in Lifestyle

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Truth for a lot of reasons--educational racism, corrupt politicians, and superiority of a group of people--the majority over minorities.

From Jim Crow laws and Brown v. Board of Education--into the 21st Century--with all the laws and policy changes regarding equality for all--there is yet to be found equality for any --who were born into situations in which they have no control.

In Michigan, Republican lawmakers have proven once again that racism is alive and well with their passage of a bill that on the surface, appears to be aid, but in actuality is the final step in demolishing a school district simply because the students are poor and minority and cannot fight back.

They have deliberately ignored the need and promoted the greed of corrupt and inexcusable behavior by those in control who have caused more damage to the educational system than any one group of people ever could and yet blame the one group--the teachers who fight for the kids--for all the ills of education in Detroit. Will there ever be a political party in control who cares about all children and their education?

Prayer changes things, but only when people know God and allow Him to change their hearts. We're praying for a Senate vote by people who have a heart for God.

If you'd like to escape the foolishness of politicians and focus on God's Word, here's the link http://viewAuthor.at/maryglobal

We pray you have enjoyed the podcast and will join us again next week. Until then, remember God loves you and we do, too!

What is the statute of limitations on anti-gay comments and homophobic tweets?

    in LGBT

The homophobic and anti-gay tweets of a couple prominent professional athletes surfaced this week. The catch? The tweets were from several years ago. So when Eagles draftee Wendell Smallwood had to face sudden questions about tweets from his high school days he deleted his account and dismissed the tweets as thoughts from his youth. Trail Blazers player Al-Farouq Aminu has seemingly gotten away with his tweets of six years ago by simply deleting them without comment.

What is the statute of limitations on anti-gay comments and tweets?

The battle over North Carolina continues, as the state's governor seems unwilling to shift to pressure about his anti-LGBT law that has caused concerts to be canceled and many sports figures have spoken out. Now college baseball is taking center stage with various postseason tournaments scheduled in the Tar Heel state in the next few weeks.

Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Honor Your Mother

    in Health

Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Founder and CEO of Miclknight. I am an Educator, Author, Speaker, Nurse, and passionate about healthy living.

May 8: Mother's Day. How can we honor our Mother? Who is our Mother? Own blood, person who raised us,

Being respectful, loving her, helping her when and even before she asks for help, appreciate all the sacrifices she made for us,

Look back at when you were a child - what did your mother do for you?

Look back now at what you are doing for your child(ren). Do you see a resemblance?

Do you want to be loved, cherrieshed, respected for what you do?

So, on this Mother's Day, May 8, 2016, I encourage you to love your Mother, who ever and wherever she is. There are plenty of wonderful gestures we can do: send a card, make a phone call saying "I love you", taking her out to lunch, or just spending some special quality time with her. I am sure you can think of many more things you can do to maybe even rekindle some of the fun times you had. The presents we give do not have to be expensive at all. What my Dad always said: "I love something that you made, whatever it is"! Just spending the time together was so much fun. (Poem)

For this Sunday, I encourage each one of you/us to reach out to someone who is/was special to us. As AT&T used to say: Reach out and touch someone!

    National Day of Prayer 2016

    in Christianity

The 65th annual National Day of Prayer, May 5, 2016, will have profound significance for our country.  It is an unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on citizens to humbly come before His throne.

The theme for 2016 is Wake Up America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. To further highlight this theme, they’ve chosen Isaiah 58:1a as the Scripture for this year:  “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”

ARMORED UP WITH MY SIX PACK 2016- Key To Success...Fighting Faith!

    in Religion

                        You’ve Got To Know This!

Faith takes us from our present place to our perfect place. Everywhere your foot shall tread I have given it to you. Keep your foot prepared with the gospel of peace. Prepared footage is everywhere in the future. Your footsteps in the Lord are prepared. God lives in the future. Everything that God is going to do He has already done. We can cross the boundaries of time when we go where God live in “Now Faith”.  For we know you that all things work together for good. We cross the boundaries of time when we speak those things as though they were. We speak in past tense because when we look back it is already past, it is already done. God lives in a perfect preparedness. That is why He said I go to prepare a place for you and  in my house there are many many mansions. So every place you go ask God what is He want you to do. Whatever He wants you to do He has already prepared it. He has already completed it. He has already done it perfectly! He says be ye perfect in Him, not in ourselves. Step into your perfect place of peace. You have perfect peace in God. Fight for it!. I called praise the perfect place of peace. When you praise under the anointing, in the spirit, there is no shame or pain because God’s anointing is perfect. Have the mindset of God. Let this mind be in you which is also in Christ Jesus.

Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Lionel Lyles!

    in Music

Lionel's story began in Boulder, Colorado - many of his Baltimore buddies don't know that.  His family moved to his adopted city when he was two.  And B'more is where he fell in love with Jazz.  R & B, too.  In middle school, he was in love with Charlie Parker and Motown.  In high school, so strong was his passion that he honed his musicality on clarinet, flute, piano and trombone - as well as saxophone.

His talent grew so rapidly that he won a special award - The Semper Fi Outstanding Musician Award that is given by the U.S. Marines.  THAT was Lionel's graduation gift :)  And that gift kept on giving at Morgan State - where he majored in Music Education.  While there, he was in several ensembles - and played at the local clubs as much as his dedication to studies would allow.  The Lionel Lyles Quintet was forming - so was the BUZZ.

In 2006, Lionel and his band had the opportunity to record "The September Sessions" - and yours truly was more than happy to play tracks from that album at a previous radio station.  Audience reception was satisfying and there were numerous scenarios that developed because of the attention garnered from the project.  Lionel had a chance to tour Europe, for example, via an invitation offered by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.  But he was anxious to complete more education.  We stayed in touch while he attended North Carolina's Central University.  There, he was mentored by unbelievable artists and teachers - including Branford Marsalis and Joey Calderazzo.

With a Graduate degree and a wealth of teaching skills at his disposal, Lionel forged ahead and into the outer perimeters of his comfort zone.  He is now considered a treasure in D.C. - with another album recorded.  And more awards on the horizon. Count on that :)  See you in the Chat Room on 5/5!
