Beyond the Locker Room with Tim Worley, Where Sports Meets Life

    in Football

Beyond the Locker Room with Tim Worley is a commentary-based radio show focused on the stories behind the stories of current events in sports. Tim Worley is a celebrated University of Georgia All-American running back, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the seventh pick in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft. He played six seasons in the NFL with the Steelers and the Chicago Bears. He is now co-founder and CEO of Worley Global Enterprises - a communications consulting firm. Tim is now an in-demand Motivational Speaker and Life Skills Consultant. Each week he will examine hot topics in sports from a life skills and character development perspective.

Through his company, Worley Global Enterprises, Tim travels the country as a Motivational Speaker and Life Skills Consultant to professional athletes, amateur athletes, corporate executives and organizational leadership, men’s groups, recovery centers and young adult groups and camps. Tim’s first-hand experiences “in the penthouse and the outhouse” as a publicly risen and fallen SEC All-American and NFL first-round draft pick position him as an expert on the “why’s” behind the negative headlines permeating sports news.

Tim’s life skills consulting work with NCAA and NFL athletes, as well as his unique perspective after suffering the well-documented premature end of his NFL career due to lack of character and poor choices, are the fodder for his show’s lively content. Tim has a gregarious personality, and an uncompromisingly passionate stance on the importance of developing amateur and professional athletes’ character alongside the development of their talent.

  • SiGnOtHeTiMeS w Queen Tahiyrah Tonight's Audiobook Michelle Alexander NewJimCrow

    in Motivation

The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness a book by Michelle Alexander a civil rights litigator and legal scholar, published in 2010(The New Press). The book deals with race-related and social, political, and legal phenomena in the United States and attempts to apply the term 'The New Jim Crow' to the situation of African Americans in the contemporary United States. The name derives from the original Jim Crow laws that prevailed in the states of the former Confederacy of the U.S. through the 1960s. This book was on The New York Times Best Seller List ten consecutive months, and philosopherCornel West has called it a "secular bible for a new social movement in early twenty-first-century America." In the book Alexander deals primarily with the issue of the current mass levels of incarceration in the United States (with 5%of the world's population, U.S. incarcerates 25%of the world's prisoners) and what she perceives as societal repression of AfricanAmerican men and, to a lesser degree, Latino men. She discusses the social consequences of various policies for people of color, as well as for the US population as a whole. According to Alexander, the majority of black men in large American cities are "warehoused in prisons," their labor no longer needed in the globalized economy. Alexander maintains that many young black men, once they are labeled as "felons," become trapped in a second-class status that they find difficult to escape. The conventional point of view holds that discrimination has mostly ended with the Civil rights movement reforms of 1960s. Alexander claims the U.S. criminal justice system uses the “War on Drugs” as a primary tool for enforcing traditional, as well as new, modes of discrimination and repression.

  • Service Dog Welfare - Experts in Service Dog industry express concern.

    in Pets

Experts in the service dog industry, Jeanne Hampl and Darcie Boltz share their perspective on a family highlighted with Matt Lauer who have a service dog for their small child.  Can we expect a young child to know how to properly handle a dog by herself?  During the interview the dog showed signs of stress that the general public wouldn't recognize, but had the dog industry ignite - like panting and yawning.  This interview brings up a larger topic of service dog welfare that gets lost in the "feel-good" stories, like this, that get ignorantly run in the media all the time.  My question is:  WHAT ABOUT THE DOG?
