    Inside Visual Artist: Russell Heath

    in Art

If you’re not living life full out, Russell Heath wants a talk with you. It’s his mission to get people off the sidelines and into the action. He’s been in the thick of the action since he was a kid—in his teens he hitchhiked to Alaska and lived in a cabin on the banks of the Tanana River; in his twenties, he lived in Italy, crossed the Sahara and the jungles and savannas of Africa; in his thirties, he sailed around the world (alone); in his forties, he wrote novels no one would publish; and in his fifties he bicycled the spine of the Rockies from Alaska to Mexico. He’s worked on the Alaska Pipeline, as an environmental lobbyist in the Alaska Legislature, and run a storied environmental organization fighting (successfully) to protect Alaska’s rainforests. Several years ago, he moved to New York City to dig deep into leadership development and coaching. He now coaches business and non-profit leaders as well as people who want to live rich, zesty, kick-*** lives.

RICHARD LINGEMAN WROTE THE NOIR FORTIES - A SEXY MUST READ!

    in Film

From one of our finest cultural historians, The Noir Forties is a vivid reexamination of America’s postwar period, that “age of anxiety” characterized by the dissipation of victory dreams, the onset of the Red Scare, and a nascent resistance to the growing Cold War consensus. Richard Lingeman examines a brief but momentous and crowded time, the years between VJ Day and the beginning of the Korean War, describing how we got from there to here. It evokes the social and cultural milieu of the late forties, with the vicissitudes of the New Deal Left and Popular Front culture from the end of one hot war and the beginning of the cold one—and, longer term, of a cold war that preoccupied the United States for the next fifty years. It traces the attitudes, sentiments, hopes and fears, prejudices, behavior, and collective dreams and nightmares of the times, as reflected in the media, popular culture, political movements, opinion polls, and sociological and psychological studies of mass beliefs and behavior.

Spinal Tap is my Favorite Movie

    in Rock Music

If you are in your mid forties to early fifties and like hard rock and metal music I bet you love the movie "Spinal Tap". In my circle of friends, that movie is a religious experirnce. The fictional rockumentary is quoted over and over whenever we all get together, so I wanted to dedicate a portion of this show to talking about that movie and how it affected my teen years. I hope you will check in with your own memories of that movie.

We will also have an update on this past Fridays Farrell football rout of St Joseph by the Sea at Alumni Field in Staten Island. I will analyze the first Jet game with Percy Harvin and look at the first Giants game after the bye.

I will have a review of the new KIX CD and update the latest Eddie Trunk Podcasts as well as all of the latest news in The hard rock and metal music

Finally the first NCAA Football play-off ranking are coming out on Tuesday October 28th and we will take a look  at those ranking and see if we agree.

Seems like a lot to talk about and I hope that you not only listen in, but call in and participate.

    Keep on Rockin!!!!!

    Who and What are we?

    in Spirituality

The most commonly asked question in our world is, "Who am I".   Unless you have amnesia, you typically would not begin asking this question of yourself until your forties.  I say typically, however, we no longer live in a typical world. The question "Who am I" and your individual answer, now has much more impact upon the rest of us!

Tune in to begin a spiritual conversation.  The point of view will be led from within Sacred Science, and expand as you direct it with your contributions...

    In loving good will,

Rev. Cassandra, independent New Thought Minister

    Special Guest Author: BAKER DAN

    in Books

Baker Dan (Dan Shaham, Ph.D.) is a Manhattan-based chef who specializes in Alternative Cooking & Baking.  Eighteen years ago, in his early forties, he was diagnosed with Palindromic Rheumatoid Arthritis (PRA).  Baker Dan and his wife Tal were living on Central Park West in Manhattan in a well-lighted one-bedroom apartment.

His first signs of PRA were redness on the side of my right index finger at the middle joint.  At first he ignored the redness, although it was a bit red and warm, but then the joint began to swell, until eventually the finger had nearly doubled in size and was very painful.

Baker Dan began a lengthy medical odyssey, going to a variety of Western, Chinese, and Alternative doctors, and eventually changed his diet. People often ask Baker Dan how he has dealt with PRA, and in his book, Beating Arthritis: Alternative Cooking, he explains his method of reducing and preventing inflammation through self-study and medically-supervised diet-change.

The book was written from a patient’s point of view, not from a medical one, and offers many recipes to help people eat healthy and feel better.  The recipes are gluten-free, lactose-free, with no added sugar or fat, and include detailed nutrition facts.

Baker Dan formed Baker Dan LLC in 2006, starting with specialty cookies.  He lives with his family in Manhattan and Warrensburg, NY. Contact Information: Dan Shaham, Ph.D. (Baker Dan) - Baker Dan, LLC.

Take Action Get Profits & Start Setting Yourself Up for Success

    in Entrepreneur

Take Action Get Profits with Michele Scism and her guest Wendy Baudin & Debbie Elder

Wendy started paving her path to become a Self-Love Sherpa 30 years ago while doing plenty of deep and heavy lifting in her own life. Having dealt with and overcome a wide range of challenges, speed bumps, and life-changing experiences – ranging from surviving a near-death experience, suffering the tragic loss of a twin son at birth, navigating divorce, grieving the death of a parent, facing and getting beyond bankruptcy, overcoming cancer and adrenal gland burnout and being a Care Giver for her Mother, she acquired the skills to move ahead with grace — without carrying the weight of such heavy baggage. Wendy possesses clairvoyant and psychic abilities and the capacity to see the truth from her heart. http://www.wendybaudin.com

My name is Debbie Elder and I am the owner and founder of the Set Them Up For Success program. Back in 2000, I came across an article in “Reader's Digest.” The story was about a man in his early forties who had been asked by his boss to take some clients on a fishing trip. That night as he was sharing this opportunity with his wife, her reaction shocked him. She replied, “Aren’t you worried about making a fool of yourself? These are big clients and you don’t know how to fish!” It was his reply that had such a profound effect on me. He told his wife he had fished with his uncle one summer when he was nine years old. In his mind, if he could do it at nine, he could surely fish at forty-three! This article had a significant impact on how I raised my daughters and it gave me inspiration for my approach to parenting. I was so struck by the incredible truth in this man's words: what we learn to do as a young child remains easy for us as we age. http://www.setthemupforsuccess.com
