Join me October 29, 2014 for an exciting episode of Talk with Tenney: A Conversation with Frank Blankenship: Underground Railroad Landing Zones
Frank explains to me, "I am working with a group of people who want to protect people facing involuntary outpatient commitment, a euphemism for forced psychiatric drugging, by helping them relocate outside of the state that would drug them."
Frank is a psychiatric treatment survivor and an anti-psychiatry human rights activist. With David Oaks, Al Galves and others Frank screened the Arlington Virginia American Psychiatric Association offices for normality way back in October 2007. Before moving to Gainesville, Florida, he lived in Charlottesville, Virginia. While in Virginia he served as point person for MindFreedom Virginia, and in Florida he is the contact person for MindFreedom Florida. Having completed both basic and advanced Leadership Academy trainings, Frank has co-facilitated Leadership Academy training sessions in Gainesville. Working with MindFreedom Florida, Frank helped bring Daniel Mackler to Gainesville for a film festival and panel discussion. He was the chair of the MindFreedom International Affiliate Support Committee and currently co-chairs the Landing Zone Committee. His current projects include an effort to introduce Open Dialogic practices in Florida, and he hopes to launch a mutual support group locally for people who wish to taper off psychiatric drugs.

But then an old cellmate re-enters his life begging for a favor: to help him with a burglary. Forced by his code of ethics to perform the crime, Jake’s once idyllic life quickly plunges into an abyss. Jake soon realizes that there is only one way out of this purgatory . . . and it may rupture his soul beyond repair.

Who should make the decision on whether or not your kids are given psychotropic drugs? The powerful pharmaceutical industry has government and medical officials in their back pocket....and they do what they are told to do. They are dispensing harmful psychotropic drugs to veterans, children and everyday people that cause them to committ suicides and homicides. A host of adverse effects are known to us all...just watch some of the commercials that tell us of delayed backache, suicide risks, erections that last for hours. These warnings are real and your children could be forced by CPS and other governement officals to take these drugs anyway.
Listen to my interview with Fred Shaw a former Sherriff with the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department as he discusses how your childen can be forced to take harmful drugs. Mr. Shaw is the Co-founder of World Literacy Crusade, an international organization with the purpose of eradicatng poverty and hopelessness in inner cities and around the world. He is past President of the Compton Branch of the NAACP where he lobbied Congress alongside of Citizen's Commission on Human Rights in support of the Child Medication act, This gives parents the right to refuse psychiatric drugs on their children. He is co founder of Basic Life Institute and organization that serves at risk youth. This show has been coordinated inconjunction with the Citizens' Commisson on Human Rights. http://www.cchr.org.
Money isn’t important to God, but because it’s important to us, He greatly uses it to accomplish His purposes for us—dependence, healing and exposing our flesh. If cooking was the most important thing to us, cooking would be what the Lord used the most to get our attention.
For those on the receiving end of true (Life-giving) ministry, though the Lord will honor and care for His ministers, that doesn’t let you off the hook. Because every minister has bills to pay, if that minister or ministry has shared what the Lord has given them, and you have received it, you are obligated to respond in kind, regardless of whether you are supporting other ministries, churches or charitable organizations.
One of the reasons there is a lack of Present, Immediate, Applicable Truth and Power from the Lord (and there is an incredible, unnecessary lack), is because so many of those who know how to depend on the Lord and are willing and able to share it, are instead working at secular jobs (or in religious organizations) just to meet their natural financial obligations, or have been forced to resort to using secular marketing techniques to support their ministry, watering down their message, to gain commercially what was meant to be given gratefully. Often those who are assigned by the Lord to be supporting true ministers, but have not heard or responded to the Lord, are nickeling and diming every passing donation plate, or “dining without paying for their meal.”
Likewise, if the Lord decides that the task He has for you requires you to be unencumbered by an occupation, He is responsible for your compensation. If you look to the people you’re ministering to, or to your finances for support and motivation, you’ve kicked God off the throne of your self-life in favor of the security of the control of your livelihood...which may very well be part of the lesson He’s trying to teach you.

Speakers: Patrick J. McGrath M.D., Co-Director of the Depression Evaluation Service at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University Medical Center and Maria Oquendo M.D. Vice Chair for Education & Training and Director of Psychiatric Residency Program at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University Medical Center
Description: Dr. Patrick J. McGrath and Dr. Maria Oquendo will discuss what we have learned so far in efforts to tailor treatment for depression to the needs of individual patients, and a current research project aiming to enhance this in the future. They will address how the efficacy of current treatments is limited by doctors’ inability to predict in advance which person will respond to which treatment and the necessity of relying on “trial-and-error” in selecting treatments for mood disorders. They will discuss a new study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health using cutting-edge brain imaging and other biologic testing to enable selecting the best treatment for an individual at the outset of treatment.
Contact Information: For more information on obtaining treatment by participating in a research study, please visit the Depression Evaluation Service website at www.depression-nyc.org or call us at 646 774-8000. Memory Card Full: When Rufus, Liz Weber’s oddly proportioned but adorable dog dies, her life begins to unravel. She is forced to let go of the one constant in her life and move forward. MEMORY CARD FULL is a memoir of her life as a bartender, model and aspiring writer in Manhattan before and after Rufus. Without him, she is alone and broken-hearted and her life spirals downward while her friends and family struggle to understand what she is going through. Prior to Rufus’s death, Liz Weber’s life was far from dull. Whether serving drinks to a gaggle of quirky regulars at a bar or walking around in her skivvies for extra cash as a lingerie model, she fought hard to remain a self-proclaimed “professional free spirit” and aspiring writer; even it meant enduring a lush for a manager or a cranky, Israeli-folk-music-loving boss. None of it really mattered as long as she had Rufus, who taught her about unconditional love in an untraditional way.
MEMORY CARD FULL is the story of Weber’s journey through grief, which leads to an unexpected encounter with the long unheard voice of the woman inside of her. On water skis at an adult sleepaway camp, Liz realizes that there are important things in life that Rufus’s love had caused her to avoid. Embracing her power and strength, she is finally able to accept that letting go of him is the best way to go on and find love for herself and others. Frank, funny, and deeply moving, MEMORY CARD FULL is a memoir for anyone who has loved and lost and found the space in that loss to become the person they were meant to be.
