    in Entrepreneur

We are meeting with Larry Sidoti, Chief Development Officer of Paris Baguette.  Paris Baguette, a fast-casual premier baking concept so popular in parts of South Korea, China, Singapore and Vietnam that you can’t go more than a few blocks without seeing one of their 3,700 locations.

The company first debuted in the states in 2005, and just began franchising in 2015. The company is sure to shake up the historically All-American bakery-café marketplace competition with its support-oriented business model, a worldlier menu selection with international flare and elevated ambiance.

Franchise Interviews Meets with the Stone Coat Franchise Opportunity

    in Entrepreneur

We have a great show today.  We are meeting with Sam Hance, President of Stone Coat. This Dallas-based company is the leading innovator of a unique process creating true stone wall finishes. The company exclusive "Blown Stone" system allows you to literally resurface almost any vertical surface with a real stone finish, meaning homeowners save time and money rather than placing traditional stone in their homes.

Originally developed in Europe to restore old historic buildings, Stone Coat is a proprietary blend of Limestone and other natural stone materials and minerals specifically designed to be blown onto almost any vertical surface. Once applied, it is able to be carved, shaped, and colored in a variety of ways, including Austin chalk, river rock, cast stone, and many more. Each finish is a custom inspiration of the artisan at work. Recreating the look of Flagstone, Limestone, Brick or Slate is all possible.

Founded in 2010 and franchising since 2015 and with more than 20 dealers and distributors already operating across the country -Stone Coat is looking to expand its national footprint with as many as 25-30 franchise units in 2016 and 150 in the next several years.

    REAL FOOD with Chef Val

    in Food

Look, it's a bird, it's a plane, No, it's super radish, daikon! With all its incredible healing properties and health benefits, it is definitely a super food! A long, thick, white vegetable, looks like a large carrot, that most people have seen but are afraid to use, is daikon. It is in the radish family, but the taste is not as strong as the small, red, round, very pungent ones most people recognize. I, myself, am not a fan of the small red ones, but I love daikon. When you put this power packed vegetable in stews and soups it cooks up to be sweet in taste. Listen as I share, LIVE on air, the history of this Daikon and my Naturally Fermented Daikon Pickles on this episode of REAL FOOD with Chef Val.

Inside Out Look at Increased Minimum-wage Impact on Franchise Restaurant Brands

    in Business

"Minimum-Wage Issue Exerts Maximum Impact On Restaurant Industry" was a recent headline on Forbes.com and is the concern of many restaurant industry professionals including those of franchise brands with tens, hundreds and thousands of locations nationwide. Rising wages will force price increases across the menu. Brands have already begun to push their prices up as their labor costs have risen, either from mandated or expected hikes to the minimum wage or from costs associated with health care coverage. In addition, several national brands have already begun to roll out self-order kiosks to reduce labor.

This week on Franchise Today, co-hosts Stan Friedman and Paul Segreto welcome long-time franchise and restaurant industry professional, Lynette McKee. With over two decades experience at Dunkin Brands, Burger King, Dennys, Checkers and Metromedia Restaurant Group, Lynette shares her perspective from the inside out of a labor-intensive industry that has already seen rising costs and declining profits. With a wealth of experience and time committed to education and leadership programs, Lynette also shares her insight on creating opportunities for minorities and women in food service and franchising.

Franchise Today airs LIVE Wednesdays at 11AM CT / 12PM ET with on-demand access on iTunes.
